Screen protector is not an issue. I've traded in phones with a screen protector before successfully.

However, Google does adjust the trade in value down for whatever reason without providing any explanations. This is true for even phones in mint condition.
This would be my concern. I have a S21 Ultra in perfect physical condition but there is a screen issue. For whatever reason, I do not get anything on the screen but it boots up and I know the screen is working as I can reboot or turn off an alarm by swiping in the right spot.

I put that the phone is not in good condition but turns on. Got a $435 TIV so seems like a good way to get some value for this phone. Do you think I would have an issue with TIV actually received?

Yeah you're good, I've traded in like 5 older pixels with cracked screens, bodies, cameras, etc. If it turns on and you say it's not in good condition, they'll give you the TIV.

Best Buy ended up a better deal for me. Traded in a cracked screen Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. Between the Best Buy card member extra 10% in rewards, the bonus $100 gift card, finding an open box (which took $73 more off), plus the initial trade value being taken off the original order and paying less in tax than at the Google Store, this was a better deal.

After the trade, I'll have paid $290.60 (-a few dollars if adjusted for tax) for the Pixel 7, $100 Gift Card, and ~$29.60 in rewards. Not bad for trading in a broken phone.

The way Best Buy does the promo value is pretty good. It's whatever your phone is worth +$250 bonus, so you can trade in a completely destroyed phone of no value and still get $250 as long as it's on their list of phones. Sadly, the old S8 Active I have sitting in a drawer wasn't eligible.

Interesting, so you were able to get the inflated TIV on an open box Pixel? I was seeing that the inflated value was going away at checkout, maybe you did it in store?

Correct but I have a third option, assuming it's in stock (right now it's in stock), you don't mind 128GB storage, can use or resell Mint 4GB 12 month service AND port in a number then this is worth considering:

Argh! Goddamnit, I just ported into mint last night.

After 42 pages, can someone confirm that the best buy deal is best if you don't mind the store gift card, and Google store is best for straight trade in value? Current phone is 6 pro 128gb, wanting 7 pro. TIA.
i'd to it at Bestbuy solely based on the fact you do the trade-in in store. I dont want to chance it and have issues with google's tradein partner.

What if you said it's in good condition but it has intermittent power issues 😬 . Just the reduced TIV or even lower?

It's unlikely they'll realize it as long as it turns on.

Learn what's checked during inspection:
Does the device power on?
Does the Power Button function correctly?
Are all Activation Locks disabled? (Find My iPhone, Google Lock, and Samsung Lock)
Is the screen without cracks, breaks and missing pieces?
Does the touchscreen work on the entire surface of the phone?
Is the screen without any bruising and missing pixels?
Is the LCD LED Backlight working correctly (the screen is not dark)?
Is the device otherwise without breaks or cracks in the housing, keypad, hinge, or battery door?
Does the device have a swollen battery? A device with a swollen battery won't receive any credit and can't be returned.

Wouldn't the S8 Active fall under the S8 category, which is listed on the Best Buy trade-in page?

Thank you, hopefully it stays on long enough for them to check all this stuff 🤣 I've been scrambling to find a phone for trade in and think I got one that will work.

Yup with these kind of things you either gotta be posting the phone for sale the first day its released and hope it sells that same day or wait it out if you are doing these trade in deals for a profit instead of to keep.
The value now on swappa is ~440... Not sure if this will keep dropping or will stabilize once inventory dries up.. I bought a Pixel 6 and traded it with BB for fun to get 7.. I bough this to trade-in for future samsung or iphone but nobody wants to give Pixel a better trade-in value so I sold it.

It will probably drop as low as $400, maybe even lower depending on how many people are doing this just to make a few bucks. I think they will stabilize and return back to around $450-500 but that depends on how long these promos will be running. Might be worth more to keep until S23 comes out.

Pixel phones do not retain their value. It's seems even worse recently. Trying to sell a Pixel at a decent price is tough, as demand is low for Pixel phones and street value drops like a rock rapidly. Almost everyone wants iPhones these days, and those that do not want Apple seem to prefer Samsung Ultras. Good luck on flipping Pixels down the road without a hassle or loss.

The street value of these Pixel 7 phones will continue to tank hard. I have a few ST iPhone 11 phones I have been waiting to trade for iPhone 14 devices, but no good deals have surfaced yet for me, as I am not on Magenta Max, so they stick it to me on the tiv. I hate T-Mobile since John left and the merger happened.

I have been debating trading the 11 for a Pixel 7 since the tiv is currently high at BB, but I am wary about trying to sell a Pixel 7. If I were going to keep it, I would probably do it, but I prefer the S22 Ultra. Pixel 7 series seems like a nice phone with a great camera, but pity they don't sell well locally.
