Great to see 12th Gen laptops hitting this price level. However, this has a 220nits 1080P TN panel.
The 8GB 3200 MHz RAM is soldered, but there is an empty SODIIMM slot for upgrade.

Just unboxed this thing and set it up. Pretty much everything I expected was confirmed, but it was slightly better than expected. It's fast and light, and the keyboard and the touchpad are very good quality (esp for the price). As reported by others and reviews, the screen isn't great. Contrast is awful and it's not super vivid. And colors are slightly off, even after calibrating color a bit. But: the anti-glare is very effective, and it is bright enough to use outdoors or in bright areas. If you want to watch movies or do any video/photo editing as a primary function, you might not be satisfied with this screen. But for a general productivity machine that's pretty fast, very portable, and near bargain-basement pricing, it definitely meets my needs. Not saying I wouldn't pay $50 more for a significant upgrade in color & contrast, but for $270, it's hard to complain too much. I've never gotten this much for this little on a regular sale for a new laptop.

Update: I'm finding it difficult to open up the bottom to access the rumored extra DIMM slot. It seems harder than usual to open up, I'm concerned that it may not be upgradable. Can anyone confirm if this laptop does indeed have an extra memory slot that is accessible without damaging the device? I'm afraid to break it.

Would you please post a link to a RAM module that could be used for this? I am very confused with tens of models. I also dont know if I can get a 16GB 3200Mhz or it has to be 8GB (worried about BSOD if its 16+8 and different brands, had that issue over a decade ago).

These days you don't need to worry much regarding the compatibility issue as long as you don't get ECC ram. Besides you won't know until you try it. The best practice is to test it whether you got the pulled, used, or brand new rams or any device, you must test it as soon as possible. DOA happens all the time therefore you do not want it to pass the return dead line. For memory the easiest testing software is the free open source memtest86. It will run for few hours(1-4) depends on the size of ram and will tell you if there's error.

Get name brand ram if concerned, crucial, samsung, sk hynix, kingston, or ram using micron, samsung, skhynix, nanya chips. Other people could add to the list.

Just bought one. Does anyone have a recommendation on a deal for some quality memory? Thinking about getting a 16GB stick. $45-50 seems to be the going rate on Amazon for 16GB DDR4 3200mhz memory (PNY & Samsung).

Just bought one, using citi card for extra 2 yr warranty > 5% off from Red card (~$14), will this be the right way to pay?

Also, to buy a RAM to add, should I buy a 8GB to make it total to $16, or just buy a $16 one to replace the original one?
