Chase ultimate rewards points are worth 50% more on apple products with sapphire reserve and 25% more on apple products with sapphire preferred or ink business preferred.

I realize many would rather use them for travel, but we don't travel and pay yourself back has been lousy.

Unfortunately, it's kind of a fake value, as you can get most apple products at discounts nowadays. So your value is still less than the 1.5 or 1.25 than they make you believe it is.
some more example
for my upcoming trip to Japan in Jun
Transfer 10K to AVIOS for redeem of 2 domestic Japan ticket worth $200 USD
1 point to 2 cents

Transfer 47K to Virgin Atlantic (with chase 30% transfer bonus) for a FIRST CLASS ticket from HND-JFK worth $5000 USD
1 point to 10.6 cents
Setting aside you being aggressive for no reason.. I think any nay-sayers on this deal are focused on the opportunity cost. If you value your points at 1 cent per point, then I agree that AirPods for about 20k points is fantastic. But it's relatively easy to get $300 of value out of 20k Chase UR points by transferring to an airline. And sometimes even higher than that by transferring to hotel/airline for point redemption towards a high-end flight or hotel stay. So 20k Chase UR points, with either a Sapphire Preferred or Reserve card, are worth somewhere between $300 and $700. So the opportunity cost is you getting AirPods for 20k points.. vs a flight or hotel stay that would cost you 2-3x the cost of the AirPods.

This seems like a decent deal if you don't want to use your points for travel. I'm considering it because of issues when using your points for airlines I have run into issues with cancelling of modifying a reservation because it was booked through a 3rd party rather than with the Airline directly. It's not the cards fault it's the airline industry in general. For example I had a direct flight booked and went to check the reservation and now there's a 3 hour layover with no notification of a change. Prices have doubled since I booked and getting a refund takes more hoops to jump through than I care to do.

I think it's done once a year. I've seen this promo before.

They often do it in early May and early October.

That's exactly it. Suppose if you don''t travel much, then cashing in for 1 or 1.5 cents per point makes sense. But many people sign up for Chase specifically to use for travel, as the UR points can have massive value when transferred to travel partners, particularly certain airlines. You can also do pretty well using them for Hyatt hotels. I stayed at one in New Orleans French Quarter over a weekend, in a room that was going $400/night and it only cost me 15k points.
Is it always better to transfer the points instead of booking through Chase Travel Portal?

Since the deal goes through 11/30, I wonder if (or when) the updated Macbook Pros come out end of this month would be available to buy. I think wishful thinking, but maybe worth waiting.

Well the points value worth 50% more which means 33.33% discount of the total cost with Chase Sapphire Reserve or 25% which means 16.67% discount of the total cost with Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase business preferred or 10% which means 6.66% discount of the total cost with all other Chase cards. Hope that helps.

That's what I thought. Why they advertised at 50% but only get 33.3%

NEARLY always, yes.

Certainly for anything above economy it is where you can get WAY more than 1.5 cents a point- as well as Hyatt hotels where again 2+ cents a point is pretty common.

In a few specific cases it might be better for econ flights to use the portal though (southwest the most common example, but you'd need to run math both ways to check... taxes and airline miles earned differ depending which path you take- because portal bookings are (to the airline) cash bookings- is why esp. with southwest you have to run it both ways).

See above... other than some limited econ flights point transfers usually beat the portal, plus you're booking direct with the airline that way.

The values of the points get 50% more with Chase Sapphire Reserve which is what I have now, I use Chase points daily and redeem most of my points in restaurants since 03/2022 till the end of the year so I'm very familiar with the system.

I would say airline miles redemption is the king IMO only if your schedule is very wide open and flexible, if I were you I would buy what I want more now and in the near and far future I will just open new credit cards lol

Just checked and they're only doing 1.25 on Chase Sapphire Reserve. No use because you still get 1.5 on travel. So put the points to the best use if you're traveling anywhere and forget this apple deal

Very helpful. Thank you. Can you give some examples of recent airline or hotel transfers you did to see the value?
