I have this saw. I don't use a scroll saw much so I didn't want to put too much money into it and it works pretty good. I paid around $110 for it so $90 looks like a good price. Just get some quality blades that are appropriate for your material and it should be just fine.

It's cool that the saw is capable of taking blades 90 degrees to the table giving you effectively an infinite throat scroll saw.. but I'd rather use a jigsaw if I needed to cut something over 16 inches. I don't like the look of the top blade holding mechanism. It just doesn't look very robust compared to my Ryobi scroll saw table, but otherwise I see no issue--seems a good deal.

I just found out scroll saws can use so little power you can run them from 100 Watt automotive-style MSW (mean square wave) inverters if you don't load them up excessively (like pushing a 2x4 against them with a big tooth blade). Useful for power outage shop activities. I run mine from a 4AH Ryobi drill battery > 12v regulator > auto inverter for laughs. 20-45 minutes of cut time. I've built a few aluminum footpedals with cutouts for displays and wooden project enclosures when I don't feel like running the CNC or 3D printer.

I really love Chinese products like Wen and Ryobi. Glad to see so many on FP all the time!
I am still under the influence of a post where I was addressed as "surely not from the US". Sorry for taking it out on you, but Ryobi is Japanese, not Chinese.

You must surely like all the FP "deals" on the Chinese apple products huh? I wish slickdeals had a way to filter out certain FP "deals" by keyword or something. I'm so tired of seeing all the apple junk they shove down our throats anytime they are 13 cents cheaper than the overinflated full msrp. They must have a contract with apple or something....

Can someone give me some tips on how use use a jigsaw for straight cuts? I know I should buy a circular saw for this but I've been procrastinating on getting one...

Use a straight edge clamp, make sure it's lined up so the plate of the jigsaw follows the straight edge. I do the same thing with long cut with my circular saw. Also helps if you go slow and if your jig has a laser, use it.
