Benchmade is well-respected and you do pay a bit for the name, but it earns that with excellent materials, service, technology, and workmanship (quality control being their main issue). IMO it's among the best (for the money) along with Boker, Emerson, and Zero Tolerance. The Griptilian line is well-established (released in 2001) and shines at almost everything. The Axis locks are superb and it's fast, light and smooth; and there's a lot of choice in materials for the blade and the scales.

With many blade steels it's also important who produced it and how it's been treated — Benchmade consistently excels there too. The CPM-20CV in this offers great edge retention and corrosion resistance for the money, while being a bit less tough and harder to sharpen than, e.g., S35VN. As for the handles/scales, I'm not 100% sure what exactly these are, but when you buy Benchmade you can trust it's going to be more than half decent. You can upgrade them later if you want anyway.

Kinda like saying if you're buying $200k cars you should learn take care of them yourself. You're not wrong, it's just not helpful and a bit out of touch.

Deal's dead now, but here's a link to the post where I found it:

https://slickdeals.net/f/16096834-cold-steel-khan-54t-folding-knife-free-shipping-with-prime-12-45

I paid $12.45 + tax and got a $1 digital credit for choosing no-rush shipping. Seemed like a pretty good deal, but again I'm no knife expert.
Yeah, I'm nowhere even close, but that sounds like something to look at for sure. I'm still looking at this Knife. I have a few I don't even use. the deal is decent, but I don't think it's a must buy, but I'm still thinking. Thanks for the link.

satin or black cerakote finish? Does it matter much with Stainless? Which one?

Oddly I don't see these same people in 5%-off-macbook threads bitching about brand premiums.
People take for granted that everyone has the same means here, which is definitely not the case. One person could have $150/mth extra spending money, and another might have $10k. Depends on the area (NYC? Ohio?) and person. I live in a hcol area and can pick up the Benchmade line without breaking a sweat, but obviously not everyone has the same arrangement.

I would just get the satin. You'll eventually wear off the black with use even if it's a high quality coating.

Thanks! I'm from Oregon and knowing this is an Oregon based company, I was scanning these comments to get insight into their politics. I will not support a company that doesn't stand by the Constitution.,
How exactly are they not standing by the Constitution?

Read what that guy before me posted about them orchestrating the destroying of firearms for OSP. I've lived in this dystopian nightmare of a state long enough to recognize an anti-American company when I see one.

For those of you that this would matter, Benchmade destroyed perfectly good firearms for the Oregon City Police.

This isn't a sports car or iPhone.
It's a knife.
Presumably someone who gets this will have use for it.

However, what I find almost comical is there are people willing to spend this kind of money on a knife who don't have enough experience with knives to sharpen it themselves. Pathetic as can be.
Your phone is a tool and so is this. Not sure I understand your point.

Unless those firearms were confiscated from law-abiding citizens, there's nothing unconstitutional about what they did.

Well, I have 3 kids, so my bloodline doesn't end with me. If I have descendants in 900 years, yes then I worry for them. We have people attacking our rights today, and they will continue to do so for 900 more years. As long as people have power over other people they will continue to abuse it.
