Just like many things the quality of Clark's has dropped from the past.

They look pretty inferior to the Sperry A.O. shoes sold recently for $35. It's hard to believe anyone would buy these for $100.

For anyone that cares, beware that this is a foam sole shoe.

Looks are subjective. Clarks is a very reputable brand and I think this is a great deal at $30.

Sperry is arguably a more reputable brand with shoes made in the United States versus offshoring of manufacturing to the lowest bidder with Clarks.

Objectively these are made of cheaper materials across the entire shoe (e.g. a predominately textile upper versus a full leather upper, a textile inner versus leather, a cheap foam insole versus leather, and EVA foam versus rubber for the sole). Not saying they are bad shoes, they are just inferior in construction to the shoes mentioned.

Though laughable at $100, at $30 they are probably fine shoes. If the Sperry comes back around at a similar price, you should give them a try.

These cloth shoes with foam soles share very little in common with most Clarks. Clarks are also known for making boots without a shank that provide inadequate arch support. I do recognize that Sperry also have poor arch support due to a flat insole. They both do better with a good insole, but I own Clark Bushacre 2s and Sperry A.O. and neither is superior in comfort other than perhaps the boot having a thicker sole. Neither one is very good as far as comfort in my opinion. A pair of Pedag, ECCO, or Superfeet insoles at one's preference fixes a lot of the issue. If you read reviews of Clarks you'll see that flat footed people seem to love them, and people that want support often don't. There's always a big divide there. Different shoes for different feet I suppose.

I don't know what it is, but something tells me you really dislike Clark's.

Haha. I like my Bushacres once Superfeet insoles are installed as they add a little structure that was missing.

I do admittedly hate foam soles without a rubber outsole. That's just a stupid design made to fall apart.

I just triggered the Clarks fans, but these are not in anyway like your Desert Boots.

The sperry I got from the last deal was so cheap. Hard to believe anything in them was made in the US. I never had bad luck with clarks. Always fantastic

What did you get? I'm only talking about the A.O. boat shoe. It's built very well. Reasonably thick leather, leather inner, leather insole, rubber sole. They were a steal at $35.

I've tried Clark's bushacre boots and I'd say they're low end budget category. Their dress loafers are slightly better. Wouldn't pay more than $40-50 for either
