I have the eufy 2k wired doorbel and 2 x eufy 2k flood light cameras. I like all them, the one flood light alerted me to someone walking through my backyard while I was at lunch today. I seen a police officer getting ready to pull out of my neighborhood so I stopped and quick asked him what recourses I had against people (this person in particular), and i described him and he said it might be the same person they're just looking for. he asked when he cut across my yard and I told him about 10 minutes or so and I quickly pulled up the Event on my one flood light cam. Cop confirmed he was who they were looking for. I told him it was none of my business what he did but I told him if you can add trespass charges to whatever else he has (or will have), I will be more than happy to press them.
My question though, I have heard so many negative things about the home base... and I am thinking I do not want to incorporate that into my network... is there a way to use the cameras WITHOUT the home base?
So I have two Eufy 2K cams with the homebase. It was rock solid for the first two years, but since last summer I've started having intermittent issues where just one camera (weirdly the one closest to base) drops connection and won't come back for hours or days at a time. The only thing that changed in my home is that a Sonos Arc was added to my living room, but we've always had other Sonos products in the same area since the start.
There wouldn't be anything I could do to bring it back online. I would go outside, restart the camera, and then moments later it would drop again for the rest of the day. This was when the base was setup via Ethernet. I've since switched to Wi-Fi and moved the base further away from the home theater equipment. Still have had a couple drop outs, but it's a lot better than before.
I think others have complained of this type of issue and said that it can be resolved by putting the cameras on a different Wi-Fi channel. I toyed around with it for a bit, but never really found reason to believe it made any difference.
I still don't regret this setup, since there's no stupid subscription fee and the cameras are genuinely really good for detection and battery life. Living in the Midwest, I charge my cameras maybe once a year despite frequent activity. I'd been holding off investing more into their products until I could see if the dropouts would finally stop. But I'm overdo for a doorbell now.
I guess I should not update my app? Because im not having any of these problems on android
FWIW I also hate the popups, but it's a kind of a non-issue when just viewing activity notifications. Yeah, you see the stupid ad for a quarter of a second while the video loads, but that's it. I guess it would be annoying if you're constantly checking in on your cameras without events? I feel like I'd need some OCD meds if that's the case, though.

i had exact same issue on the Eufycam pro 2 with home base. Every month i had to factory reset it because of lost connectivity. In the end, i ended up returning EufyCam pro 2.
Not sure if there are any excluded models, but I use rtsp from my eufy cams into tinycam pro. All my cams all at once across phones tablets and TV's (Android boxes). Only thing I haven't figured out is the ptz, but I don't move mine much.
Can you verify that when you use rtsp it only let's the video record at 1080p and not 2k

The rtsp stream is 1080. The cameras record in 2K. I have motion capture enabled on the camera and 2K output files. If I record in tinycam it's just in 1080 because the source is 1080.

I abandoned Wyze v2 and v3 and switched to Eufy's versatility because of the lack of outlets and having to buy long microUSB cables.
The great thing about wyze is that you can watch all live views as they're happening. But their subscription service ruined it for me.
The great thing abou Eufy is their versatility but their UI is god damn garbage. I have bought outdoor cam pro, S40 and E40.
These are great for low foot traffic areas like side yards, sheds, nooks and crannies. You really get the maximum battery life there.
In moderate traffic area like garage it'll last about 3 months.
In heavy traffic like your driveway or front lawn that captures cars constantly passing on the street, it'll last about a month. You would benefit by getting a solar panel added, but At this point you might as well get the S40 for the spotlight, color night vision and built-in solar panel as the E40 doesn't have this.
... So nobody is going to tell them that wyze made an outdoor camera + solar panel for it?
Eufy app has annoying pop-up / banners ads on their products / services / surveys
They dont pop up on over your feeds. The send a small icon that looks like a package if there is a promotion, no more than the notifications that Wyze or Blink sends. You dont have to click on any one of them unless you want to, there is a referral program, just like everyone else has. The app opens in the My devices window and nothing pops up there over your feed or when you click on your cameras. They have an explore button at the bottom of the app and thats where they tell you about promotions, referrals, raffle drawings for free service or cameras and for adding the 24/7 monitoring service. If anyone else is currently using their service, I am sure they can confirm. I have 8 of their cameras including these and none have anything blocking me from seeing or clicking on them.
... So nobody is going to tell them that wyze made an outdoor camera + solar panel for it?
Wyze just does not make a camera that compares to the S40 from Eufy, the solar is separate on the Wyze, which makes you have to hang two devices. This could be cumbersome for some, but others may need the separate solar kit to move it to an are that has direct sunlight.
... So nobody is going to tell them that wyze made an outdoor camera + solar panel for it?
No because it's utter crap. I bought it as part of their pre-sale and it's been horrible. Don't get me wrong I love wyze but their outdoor cam is a total bust. I got the eufy s40 and it's a million times better than the wyze

I second this. Also have tried blink cameras... Terrible. The eify have been nice. The batteries actually last a lot longer then 120 days

don't update your Eufy app yet. Otherwise it will show an ad of their 3rd generation home base every time you open the app.
