Setup the RasPi with PiHole:
sudo apt install git
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/pi-hole/pi-hole.git Pi-hole
cd "Pi-hole/automated install/"
sudo basic-install.sh

Once it's installed, most of the time the defaults are fine for most. It will block ads, and it will block the "sponsored" (ahem) Google results, and it will block some Slickdeals links (alas) but there are workarounds to all of that. After all, you ARE getting this to block ads!

On the UDM SE: Set your DNS for your home network to (the RasPi's IP address).

Wait a little while, while your clients adjust to using the new DNS server (the Pi) rather than the UDM and whatever your ISP uses.

Extra bonus points: Setup PiHole's uplink as OpenDNS, setup an account on OpenDNS, and use their enhanced blocking to block more junk / adult trash /etc.

More bonus points: Use the UDM SE console, turn on full packet inspection and network defense / blocks. The wording escapes me at the moment, but on a UDM SE it shouldn't slow down even the fastest networks doing that step.

Even MORE bonus points: On the UDM SE, kill all connections to 12 (or is it 15?) suspect countries. You don't need anything from them, so block all traffic in and out. You'll be stunned at how much cleaner everything runs, and you'll get far less attacks too.

And no, the PiHole won't slow down your network. But again, it will block ads, and that sometimes means it blocks ads you might not mind.

But browsing webpages becomes fast and wonderful again, without millions of annoying ads....

It has unique features not found in other TVs. It definitely doesn't have the performance of OLEDs (though it's not a poor performer), but people don't buy it because they think it does. My wife decreed this was the only tv she would allow in our family room due to it's bezels and art mode capabilities. I find the UI and menu to be a complete mess compared to my Sony. The menu is covered in advertisements and promotion of certain apps and channels. I wish I could pay a fee to debloat the Samsung menus. Samsung has locked things down and old tricks to debloat it no longer work.

Cool design, but this seems like really dang expensive for a 55" non OLED in 2022, no? I feel like in a year, this will be half this price, but I guess that's for most TVs…

Hmmm the prices on TVs this year have been dropping like a ton of bricks. Can't wait to see what pops up for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

CEO's of retailers were talking about having too much inventory (they over estimated what people wanted) during the pandemic l. Now they have to get rid of all these tvs, sometimes at a loss since it's just sitting there taking up space that would be used for other goods.

Saw this drop on Amazon with the 3rd party seller, was hoping the other sizes would drop too, but alas. Surprised Best Buy and Costco are matching 3rd party, since Amazon itself still has this for $1500. I'd be all over this if the 50" dropped this much, but I really don't want to pay much more than $600 for the novelty.

It's the novelty for sure.

I am setting up a room as a gym and I think this would be perfect for what I have in mind. Only thing is I really don't want to put too much effort into hiding cables. My wallet appreciates my DIY laziness

Raspberry Pi (or a PC) running PiHole in a container, blocking everything from that IP except firmware update and netflix/etc. ?

I have leftover pcs and a little know-how, but I wouldn't know how to do that. Would that slow bandwidth to the TV? Could I achieve the same thing from my UDM SE?

LG has art without paying more. I have the 65 inch and I've had it for about 6 months. It's stunning and has what this TV has but it was about 800 more at the time. It has everything the old has.. I haven't checked these side by side. I didn't sleep well so check both. I like that the LG can turn and swivel and you can change the direction to keep
sun away from it if you happen to have a window nearby

Thanks so much! I don't have a Pi, can you recommend a particular model?

Save your money. Take an old PC, put Ubuntu Linux on it, and you're off to the races.

If you do want a Pi, any Pi 3 or 4 of any capacity is more than sufficient. For your own speed and sanity, a 4 with 2GB is the minimum I would go, but any 3 or 4 (or 2, honestly) is vastly, vastly more than you need for a PiHole.
