when I logged in to check on delivery it said the inflator portion was cancelled, I called they said they cancelled it because it was not a valid Milwaukee promotion, they refuse to honor their errors I guess.

I would recommend to those that have not done so yet to open a case with your CC that you ordered with. There is a chance that they will refund your money, then charge Northern Tool for the refund, Thus getting you set of free batts.... but of course depending on CC policies and somewhat there deaccessions, they will want you to ship the Batts back. Its worth a shot as it looks like Northern Tool is just asking for there batts bat.
Make sure you open the package atleast so they will be force to resell the batts as used/opened.

My store pickup inflator still shows in the order, the store called yesterday to tell me the batteries were in, I was like cool, I'll come get them when the inflator shows up. Gal just said "ok we'll hold on to them until then". So, IDK, we'll see I guess. Personally I've been in enough botched slickdeals that even though the cancel and disappear situation is shady and annoying, this is just part of the game. Ya'll trying to beat NT into submission out of anger are just reducing the likelihood of future deals.

I called today, I did not receive a cancelation email either.
They were just hoping I was going to do nothing and forget about it I guess.

They pissed me off because they didn't even realize that they were in breach of the contract. They keep referring to their terms and conditions, which only said that "we may cancel your order, or we may contact you for instructions on the order". They had done neither. And it was laughable that they even said the inflator was "free", so it was OK to be removed from the order. What a bunch of incompetent and arrogant people. I will fight tooth and nail with them until they learn their lessons.

Since I paid using PayPal, I filed a claim to PP that I didn't receive the inflator. Now I am just waiting.

Good! I'd be happy if there are no more deals from Northern Tools. I'll be happy if they go out of business and the owners never recover financially. They charged us, removed the most valuable part of the order without any notification, hoped we wouldn't notice they stole from us, and are refusing to do anything to make it right. This was my first order from Northern Tools. It will be my last regardless because they're an absolute scam of a company.

The "free thing" disappearing has happened before as well. Only once can I remember it being made right (really more than right) when Home Depot gave full value credits for a missing second battery when some intern made the "free battery" deal on a jig saw the jigsaw with a battery plus another battery free when it should have been just the jigsaw bare tool and free battery as the bonus. They quietly changed the listing and existing orders processed without the second battery, those that held out and made enough of a stink were given like 150 dollar credit on a 200 dollar purchase to "buy another battery" but you could buy anything with it and I just bought another dewalt tool. But there's been plenty of deals that have been changed that way and didn't get fixed. I would bet you this was incompetence not malice on their part.

You're assuming it has to be one or the other rather than both. Perhaps the original listing was incompetence. But they obviously recognized they made a mistake, and removed the inflator from people's invoices and shipments. Knowing there is a problem, shipping out the deal anyway without notifying anybody or giving them the chance to cancel the order, and charging people full price for less than what you sold them (and an absolute joke of a deal--the two pack of batteries has been $67 on Amazon for the last month) is absolutely malice. I've been chasing deals on sites like Slickdeals and FatWallet for 20 years. I've never once had a company remove a major portion of the order without any notice, charge full price, and then refuse to admit there was an issue or do anything to make it right afterwards.

The CS lady tried to tell me that it was my fault because I added a $5 promo code to my order and that because of that I didn't qualify for the promotion. This was after she said that the promotion was a mistake in the first place. They really were hoping people just didn't notice that the inflator wasn't going to ever show up. The way that they removed any mention of the inflator from our invoices is evidence of that. So instead of just admitting their mistake, cancelling orders before fulfulling half of the order, and sending emails explaining the mistake, they are going to take an even bigger hit by paying for all of the shipping and returns.

And yet even those of us that didn't add the coupon got screwed. Harder, actually, as we didn't get the inflator NOR the $5 off.

I paid via PayPal but am on the fence about opening a dispute as I have this irrational fear that if I do that, Northern Tools may compromise my data in some way. However, based on principle, I really don't feel like having to go out of my way to return it either.

For those that opened CC/PayPal disputes, any decisions made on their end yet?

Shipping the half the order, at the full cost of the order is incompetence. How they are handling it is malice. Removing the promotional item from orders, without notifying customers, after they shipped the batteries should be criminal(if its not already considered criminal).

Because of their mess up, I have to spend an hour chatting to them, then I have to print a label and use my gas to drop off at Fed Ex. Screw these guys, I dont care to get a "Good Deal" from these guys, because I dont want to get cheated again.

And $80 for 2 3ah Batteries without a tool or charger is not a good deal at all. I can get 2 6ah M12 batteries with charger "like new" from secondipity for $100.
