Reading forums it looks like Celerons have better idle wattage, and the power brick that usually comes with small form factors are more efficient, at the expense of raw compute.

My first refurbished of the same model from a couple months ago was basically perfect and I haven't had a single issue. I'm wondering if the price drop now isn't them sending out returns from the initial batches.
Hopefully I won't have any issues getting my money back, but that's what charge-backs are for! I'm not going to spin the wheel for another one. I hope everyone else has a better experience.
Edited to note that I had no issues returning the pc. No questions or hassle, full refund.

Is there any disk in the DVD drive? Did you check? If so, take it out. You didn't add anything to pc? Like ram or ssd or anything. If you did add anything at all please share?
The mouse and keyboard are super cheap, and are are open in plastic and can fall out of plastic in box.
I have bought about 8 of these acer refurbs , the celeron, i3 and i5 models and they all worked for me. Now if I used usb stick to install OS, I had to "learn" how to do it correctly.
What you are discribing sounds like terrible experience, but ... as usual, it helps if you clarify what you did? I have been in these acer refurb threads, and sometimes people fail to tell us exactly what they did, some exchanging parts and adding stuff and wonder why it isn't working.
You got same model before and it worked great, ... so I'm thinking this "new" one is unclean not fixed model. But clarify if you can.
p.s. Could it be possible you did open the PC and put in SSD card in unit? Because if you did, that SSD could be the problem? PC thinks the SSD card is the OS drive, instead of the NVMe drive. Take out SSD card and see if that helps, and update windows, get all the updates, and decide if you want to go to windows 11 (I did). Then once PC is completely updated, then install SSD card or hard drive. Some people in the threads did have problems with adding SSD card when they got PC. Good luck.

The Acer screen came up, then a beep, then black screen on my monitor stating "Reboot and select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected device and press a key". So I manually turned it off and back on again. Same message. Did it again, this time it goes to Windows setup and makes it all the way through initial Windows setup. So I'm thinking it was an initial fluke and I reboot from start menu, and I'm back to the error about proper boot device. I repeat about 20 times changing usb and hdmi ports along with a different usb keyboard, and finally say screw it and put it back in the box and submit my return. Nothing in the disk drive, nothing other than keyboard, mouse, monitor plugged in. Sure I could probably troubleshoot everything and come to a working solution - but that's not really what I like to do with something I just purchased straight out of the box that is supposedly tested.

This second XC was intended to be an identical match for my in-laws so I really don't want any flakiness. Whenever they need help with something on the computer it's nice to know exactly what they are talking about (plus I also know when it's time to upgrade them).
