So this is WILD. I called Best Buy and was told they aren't price matching. Then I called Best Buy again, gave the sku, told them it was the iPad Pro 2021 128GB and staples had it for $599.. she tells me "The SKU you gave me is $599" I refreshed on the Best Buy site, still shows $699 so she helped me to process the purchase at $599

How weird.

I wonder if Staples ever had an intention of selling theseā€¦.awfully sleazy to issue a nationwide advertisement when they must have know they could provide even the minimal stock to reasonably fulfill the demand.

Hah just to see I tried to pricematch at best buy and they immediately responded they don't match the staples ad; yesterday there was a bit of a delay while "checking to see about price match"

I was close to a PM from BB in store. The associate I worked with to trade up my wife's mini to the new one was not up to the process so she asked 3 other associates and the first 2 said yeah "just call manager over to actually do it" and the 3rd said "yeah just make sure its in stock" and that is where it all fell apart. She wanted me to call around to find one in stock and none in my state had any. I had 1 store tell me they were getting a truck on Thursday so to call back and try again. I'm wondering if Staples ever actually got any in yet.

Tried in person at BB and online...no dice. They seemed to really not even care or try. I told the manager that other people on Slickdeals had gotten them to price match and he's like "What's slickdeals?" lol. Oh well, I bet we see $599 from other places.

I tried 3X online price match and they all said Staples is not included as a retailer for price match. I even asked them to check that they have physical stores near Best Buy stores...no luck.

I was looking to get this for my sister but all she wants an iPad for is to write notes on while working in the field and read books. Is this overkill? I thought the m1 was better than the a series chips too. Why is the m1 disliked in the iPad?

I gave up on price matching. I bought an open box excellent condition for $595~ and am happy with the iPad I received. The cable and power adapter were untouched and best of all, was that the warranty started 2 days ago. So someone clearly bought it and returned it the next day. Sure it's not new but the closest I'm going to get to

Just get a 9th Gen base model and the first Gen pencil. That iPad was $269 on Amazon a few weeks ago and will likely hit that point (or better) again for Black Friday.
