Depending on what you mean by "basic" and what you need to do there are a number of low priced options that might suit your purpose. This is by no means a complete list, but here are a few I've stumbled across and/or purchased in the past:

Single channel basic <5Mhz Kits/Handhelds
- $20-30 - DSO138 https://www.amazon.com/s?k=dso138+oscilloscope ]
- $35 - 138 Pro https://www.amazon.com/LCD-Handheld-Digital-Oscilloscope-Oscilloscopes/dp/B09XWHRFGV ]
- $20-40 - JYEtech DSOShell handheld (kit or assembled) https://www.amazon.com/s?k=dsoshell+oscilloscope ] (I've built this kit - avoid knockoffs if you want to do firmware upgrades)
- $49 - Espotek Labrador https://www.amazon.com/EspoTek-Labrador-Easy-Use-All/dp/B07CVB7ZJG/ ] (I own this - super limited specs, but also tiny postage stamp size and versatile features (multimeter/waveform generator) and can be used with smartphone or web app - I bought this when it was $29 - not sure I'd want to pay the current price)
- $50 - 5Mhz mini oscilloscope https://www.amazon.com/s?k=5+mhz+oscilloscope ]
- $80 - LM2020 / ET828 2-in-1 Multimeter Oscilloscope - https://www.amazon.com/s?k=lm2020+et828 ] (I own this - it's VERY basic but occasionally useful)

- $90 - 5012h 100mhz single channel handheld https://www.amazon.com//dp/B085NPW4W9/ ]

Dual channel 20Mhz+
- $80-100 Hantek 6022 series USB PC oscilloscope https://www.amazon.com/s?k=hantek+6022 ] (Probably the best bang for your buck if you don't mind needing a PC to use it)

As someone else suggested you might find an old CRT-based scope on Craiglist or FB marketplace, but just about every single one I've ever encountered was worn out and needed calibration or a lot of work.

Also, FWIW, I also own the 200mhz 2-channel version of this Siglent and it's excellent.
Lots of options on ebay.
Well, maybe. I bought a TEKTRONIX 2213 2-Channel / 60MHz for $65 a few years ago... seems to work fine.

I hope to get smart enough to need to able to use this.
I'm getting back into electronics with a little more knowledge and am building up a power supply with a Ender 3 PSU and one of those nice RD6006 buck/boost converters with the display and buttons.

I will also add to this off-topic discussion my observation. A while back I posted a deal about leather sofa from Costco. I also searched extensively before posting it here and clearly I was the first. A few hours later, it turned out my post was merged into another one and it was claimed that I was not the original poster. Absolutely the same experience. I didn't attempt to pursue this as I just do not care about internet life. Too much real life problems to deal with.

An analog scope with just 2 channels... Not fun to use. Especially if you want to capture standard communication protocol like i2c, spi, JTAG or UART... Can 2213 even do FFT? I think the siglent is a way better deal for $399
The context wasn't the OP, but someone asking for something cheaper; $100 range.

Any ideas where to find an oscilloscope for like $100? It can be old, but I'm just looking for something basic.
HP Agilent 54622D will cost you about $200 on feebay, but it a very capable scope.
100 MHz, 2 analog + 16 digital channels.

I bought an Agilent 54622A on eBay some years back for like 125 shipped. The only issue I have had with it is that the encoders occasionally need to be cleaned with electrical contact cleaner. Otherwise, if you're on a tight budget and you don't need fancy triggering and decoding schemes, it does the job just fine and actually has better memory depth than many new budget scopes

Why the downvote?
Because the thread is full of people quoting that from the post and generally giving OP a hard time for trying to post a deal.

OP even states why it says that and admits he's on the spectrum, yet people continue to give him shit for it. It's a little disheartening to see people act so childish over a harmless mistake. Especially people that probably haven't contributed themselves.

So why the downvotes? Because this is a community of people trying to find deals and they don't appreciate the drama or rudeness people have exhibited in this thread.

At least, that's what I've gathered.

Yes but it's way overkill and too expensive for what you want to do. You need a scope only capable of ~50 kHz while this one is for 100 MHz. Get something cheap used on eBay or get one of the cheaper portable oscilloscopes on Amazon.

edit: not sure how good this is but it's probably enough for what you need. https://www.ebay.com/itm/26378370...media=COPY

Anyone know if the MSO addon for this ever goes on sale? Looks pretty expensive at about $335.

I've been wanting to set aside some time to get into FPGA programming (like the DE10-Nano development board). Just wondering if a scope like this is something you want on the bench as you learn, or would other test methods be more appropriate? Thanks!

Oh hell yeah, floppy disk drive so i can save....uh, something to it!

edit: i've only ever used green screen oscopes or digital ones that could save screenshots to a flash drive. Can it somehow save an analog image to a floppy disk?
