After living with the 85QN90A for several months, I can give some positives and negatives. For comparison, I've also got a 6 series TCL and VT60 Panasonic plasma, and helped install a C2, G1 OLED, and Samsung Frame in relatives homes.
The positives are the sheer size of the set. You really can't beat an 85" unless you go projector, and then you are limited to a dark room. The brightness is insane. It exceeds 1600 nits vs 1000 on the TCL and 800 on the C2. And on an 85" set, it's extreme. You have to dial it down, especially at night. Because it gets so bright, colors pop. So anything with a great signal looks outstanding. Those 4k and 8k YouTube videos are jaw dropping. Movies and sports look great, and using the motion at 120Hz has a processor that doesn't affect sports (balls jumping across the screen). The OS is fine, and quick. No issues. The negatives are that you will see some DSE on solid color screens, such as white or gray. You cant get around it. Especially on a giant 85". You will also get some blooming. I only recognize it at the end of a movie with rolling credits. But it's there. And you'll be adjusting the picture mode at night because of how bright the set gets. It's unparalleled during the day for college football, but blinding in the evening. The remote is very fast to get to the settings, so it's 5 seconds. But it's there. You'll want a wall mount that allows access to the inputs. Because once this set is up. It's not coming down. Run every cable you need and don't need to the TV. And label them. It takes 3 strong people to mount this. One last positive - two tuner mode. I use it to watch multiple football games. You can do equal sizes or one large one small, and flip the pic and sound with one button. That in itself was worth the investment. So 83" OLED vs 85" QLED? If my room was dark enough all the time - OLED. But it's not so it's QLED for the main room.

Depends if you have a bright room or dark room. Other use cases apply.

Anyone have experience with the return process if we end up not liking the TV? Do they make it difficult? Do we pay for the return shipping?

Link where a C1 is $2499 as that size Oled minimum will cost you $3500 but realistically $4k+ as the newer C2 as well

Blackfriday vs Super Bowl deals? Which one better?
SuperBowl is never high end tvs, in any year past, present or future. They do cheap big screens and mid to lower quality.

Premium tvs are the cheapest when new models come out or Black Friday.

The C1 is better. OLED is just superior to QLED, plain and simple. QLED has a higher peak brightness, but the perfect blacks and contrast of OLED give it unmatched detail. LG OLEDs are the pretty much the best TVs out there. Though there is the new Samsung QD OLED which technically ranks higher, because it's a combo of QLED and OLED, but it still doesn't have Dolby Vision, which makes it obsolete in my eyes. No Samsung TV has Dolby Vision, which is significantly better than the HDR10+ Samsung uses.
That's not exactly correct, while LG has Dolby Vision, Samsung has HDR10+ which in theory is identical.

You need a program to take advantage of both and depending on how it was mastered is what makes a difference if any.

As of today there's no real benefit to either as long as your tv has either

Peace

Yep. Exactly. HDR10+ is the Pepsi of display technology. It'll always be second to Coca Cola.
Please provide one and I mean only one example of where the same exact film, show, etc is being displayed in Dolby Vision vs HDR10+ and you can tell the difference if any.

I had to return one last year. It was both very annoying and fairly easy at the same time. The first unit they sent had issues where it would take 20 minutes of trying to turn it on and off before it would successfully show an image. It had power and could play sound, just needed to warm up or something. They wanted to send a technician, but since it was within the return period I demanded to be able to return. This took at least one hour on the phone and I was transferred probably 8 times between agents before finally getting one that knew how.

Once they agreed to take the return, the problem became actually getting it picked up. My wife and I had been able to get it up onto the stand ourselves, but I was scared of trying to take it down - that motion seemed harder. I ended up paying a task rabbit like $80 to help me box it back up, and it was absolutely worth it. He did a great job securing everything better than I think I would have.
They did the delivery with one local company that seemed very competent (I've forgotten which), but they did the returns through FedEx. FedEx was absolutely terrible at this. Because it was a residential address for pickup they seemed to have no idea what to do with an item this big. This meant that they told me three times that they were coming, and I stayed home from work so I could be there, only for them to not show up, or not show up with the proper equipment to actually take such a large item. Finally on the fourth try one guy showed up and I was able to help him move the item up a stair case and out. Keep in mind this is a 150 pound item. I made sure he signed that he was taking custody of it before helping. This process overall took three weeks.

Also, note that they do not do exchanges at all. You can return the item, and you can rebuy the item, and once they process the return (not when the replacement is delivered) they will price match it down to the original price you bought it for if its now higher. That means ordering the new tv before they accept the return is a bit risky.

Finally once the return had been processed the entire process had taken multiple months and the new tvs were out so there was yet another sale that was even better. I.e. I bought the first model at like $2000, it was $2300 when I ordered the replacement, and then by the time the return was processed it was like $1500. I talked to a representative on the online site about getting the price matched to $1500 since it was within my return period. It's well known on slick deals that when you're within the return period they generally have the authority to price match because it's obviously unprofitable for them for you to return and reorder. The samsung rep on the site agreed to price match down to $1500. However once the return was processed they only refunded the original $300 match from $2300 to $2000, not the $800 that the rep had promised. After multiple calls a supervisor finally absolutely insisted that their system did not have the capability to offer multiple price matches so there was nothing he could do to do the correct match. He offered that I could return the tv again, or they could send $200, so still $300 short of what was promised. I decided that small claims court would likely consider the offer to refund the tv to be sufficient, and accepted the $200.

So on the one hand, incredibly annoying at times. On the other hand, in the end, likely $1500 under what I'd have paid through any other site. Would probably do it again because I'm an idiot and I have room for it to sit there forever. Would not recommend for a small apartment type situation unless you're willing to be relentless with the fedex schedulers to make sure someone gets it. When I talked to the drivers delivering the second tv they said samsung had switched from them to fedex due to cost. My assumption is that they don't care much about the returned tv since they're presumably mostly broken - so I would expect the pickup to be an issue in most areas.

I recieved a broken tv and samsung doesnt do exchnages so i had to return and rebuy. The process was easy for me samsung coordinates a fedex freight pickup. The pain in the ass was repackaging it and bring it down a flight of stairs myself. This tv is heavy as fark will be a 2 to 3 person job to wallmount or bring up stairs.

I love my A80J, but definitely don't think OLED is in any way superior, but rather a lateral move depending on one's usage. At these price points, I'd rather have the Q90B at 83" instead of 77". OLED looks great, but not all that much better in my opinion. Yes, there are perfect blacks, but I was blown away by how well my neighbors QLED performed. Demo content they throw on at Best Buy and Costco for the OLEDs doesn't accurately reflect what you'll be seeing while streaming, and you have to have quite a setup to reap the full benefits of either TV. Watching Dune (2021) on a 4k Blu-ray with Dolby vision is much better than streaming it from Vudu, but I'd wager 90% of the population doesn't have a vast 4k disc library that can utilize the best features of an OLED.

Don't get me wrong, I love my OLED, but I'd be equally as happy with a QLED since my wife and kids stream a lot of content during the day. 90% of the time my TV is used during the day with the windows open, so the peak brightness is hugely valuable and those colors really pop on HDR10 supported streaming services (of which there are several). Also, anyone who uses a Roku Ultra or Fire TV that's a 2021 or older model, or their TVs android interface, likely won't even have Dolby Vision since it's not supported.

TL;DR, it's not plain and simple. The QLED holds its own quite well against an OLED for casual use and the differences are minor between the two. The price and size of Q90B makes it the winner in my book at the moment.

Yep theres no perfect tv. Get one thats based on your viewing area and habits. The price/size/quality def makes it a winner.

For anyone moving in the near future i would not recommend this tv though, unless you get professional movers. The tv is an absolute monstrosity size wise and weights about 125lbs i think.
