After going through two Fitbit Versa 2s in as many years, both of which failed just outside the warranty period, I'm pretty much done with them. I was hoping the Google buyout would lead to some better quality hardware, but now I'm even wary of their new Pixel watch because of it. Really hit or miss whether you get a good Fitbit or not. Guess I just happen to be very unlucky.

I paid $70 for the watch part "pebble only" on eBay. In a Fitbit baggie. I assume refurbished. Has worked great. I had charger already from Versa 3. And I never use stock bands. Just a cheaper alternative if you're a cheap Mfer.

All the smart watches look pretty similar.

You can add a credit card promo or something on the amazon one as well (discover card?).

I got this after the Ionic recall.

My only issues are:
  • the strap that it comes with broke in less than a month. Though the Ionic recall let us get one of the sport straps for free which work much better.
  • The capacitive side button is very annoying. If the watch is near your wrist and you tilt your hand upwards, your forearm may hit the button by accident. I've just gotten used to the vibration that occurs & turning on the watch only to see the fitbit pay screen since it happens so often. There is basically no solution to this outside of wearing your watch higher up your arm and not so close to your wrist. There's a reason why the Sense 2 went back to a physical side button.

I don't like the pay wall for some of the health tracking. Hoping Garmin has a sale on the venu.

$11 less than what I paid directly to FirBit a few weeks ago in their Ionic discount deal. Lowest price I've ever seen.

Also most likely the last watch with a multi-day battery that can also do music control.

I *hate* the capacitive button, but what you describe never happens to me. My only issue with it is how hard it is to activate.

Same thing happened with my fitbits. I will not buy another one. I bought a garmin venu this year instead and so far I am much happier with it.

Next time buy them with a credit card that does extended warranty, saved my ass many times. And with semi-disposable electronics like this I'd say 2 years is probably where the most I'd use it for anyway.

I was a fitbit user for as long as I remember. Then they kept dying. Fitbit force, flex, ionic and what not. Got fed up of throwing money away. Funny I had a ionic sitting around and they refunded $300 for sending it back.

The Fitbit metrics are not accurate, if you lift or twist your hand then it counts as a step. Not sure how accurate is the heart rate.
