It's felt like that way for years IMO. The games with gold took a very sharp turn once their gamepass service came out.

Honestly, at this point, I could see MS getting rid of XBox Gold and therefore Games with Gold once the Activision Blizzard acquisition is finally approved. It feels like they are already kind of phasing it out.

I've never complained about the "free" games before, but those both look like trash. I'm sure they have fanbases, but I have to believe it's a very small, niche group.

I've always liked these tactical games. Same team made Commandos 2, but you control entire units. So it feels less like you're playing the "puppetmaster". But not as bloated as the Total War series.
