However it is remarkably difficult to buy just the long pole. Might be easier to get something machined than to go through Ergotron.
From an email exchange with Ergotron in 2017:
"The only way to get the tall pole is to purchase the base clamp & pole assembly as shown in the picture below. The part number is 200-490-026-01, and the price is $64.55 plus shipping. To purchase this part please call our Customer Care group at (800) 888-8458."

Edited: 2 things I got wrong
It actually cost ~$20 with the coupon, I didn't notice my gift card balance.
It does support the weight, I just was adjusting the wrong way.
I put it on another desk & PC setup that I had, but I can only use one there, not the two I bought.

Got 2 plumbing stud plates ($7) & one 2ft 2X4 ($2) at Lowe's, had the Lowes guys cut the 2x4 into 4 6-inch blocks, sandwiched the glass top between one stud plates and 2 of the wood blocks, lined up the other stud plate at the bottom and installed the dual monitor arm. No issues so far.

I'll give you one reason why. Comparable mount from Huanuo that can hold ~25lbs costs $80. Oh plus this is Ergotron rebrand with all their patented tech, not plain Amazon basic. Now you have two reasons for the downvote.
