You're not supposed to use regular chrome sockets on an impact wrench. You need the impact rated black sockets. I saw a decent deal on some husky sockets on the front page.

Hey I got this deal 2 yrs ago at the same price. Make sure to get impact sockets....this thing will flake away regular sockets until they round out. Broke loose some heavy duty trailer hitch bolts on military equipment that those giant wrenches and a sledge hammer couldn't break loose.

No, you didn't. This wrench was released a few months ago. If you're talking about the Octane of GEN5 wrench, that's probably more accurate.

I got a very similar deal to this on their old "Octane" wrench last weekend from DTO for $69. That $69 included the wrench, 2AH battery, charger, SAE impact sockets (boooo), and the obligatory bag. The people at my local DTO are super nice, and gave me a 30% discount when they really weren't supposed to. It probably helps that I'm there every other weekend, and I chat with them a little while every time.

Even if you consider the tool equal to the tool offered as part of this deal in years past (but realistically is probably better), this includes a max output battery whereas previous years it was just a standard battery (not octane).

You can hack this one down to $161.52 if you pick the circular saw. Twice the torque.

Torque Test compared them, this did test better https://youtu.be/3nXYV_y0gjU.

Seems to have scored decently. Still feel for 199$ I am better off with the #3 spot metabo since I already have the 36v batteries.

any thoughts?

I mean a high end chrome socket is still better then Chinaman impact rated ones from my experience. Then again I'm working in the 300 or less torque range breaking free Midwest rusted crap

According to the tests on youtube this should be almost able to take a lug off a semi, So I would say yes should work fine.

If you need an impact and want to get into the Ridgid platform, this is a great way to do it. The impact is a powerful mid trq and it comes with a decent size 4ah Max battery and a charger.

Easily. Even the small sub compact wrench removes car, SUV and typical truck lugs.

Thank, I ordered one price wise I don't think this can be beat and the fact that it's a normal model on sale is even better. Never been a fan of BF only skus.

I had actually bought the "hack" Ridgid wrench but ended up returning it because to me it felt too heavy for my needs. For some reason, this 650/500 wrench just felt better in my hands. I think the price of $150 is a sweet spot, especially for the performance you get with it.

This is actually a better deal. please keep an eye on it, hopefully it could drop in blank Friday to like $120 after the hack. I will definitely like to buy one.
