Closest Microcenter to me is about 4 hours away. I cry myself to sleep every time I see awesome deals at their store. I plan to make a field trip there some day.

You're looking for a Mini ITX board then. Unfortunately "deal" and "Mini ITX" are rarely in the same sentence - people are generally willing to pay a premium for the small form factor. I used this Asrock Mini ITX board; it's not particular feature rich, but may suffice for your needs.

Thanks. I think I'm going with an ASUS PRIME H610I-PLUS D4 ($109) and an i3-12100 ($140). I'm going to put these in my Thermaltake Core V1 and use my old PS, NVME, and ram. It's been a looooong time since I built my pc. I remember Asrock being considered a low end brand.

someone gave me a glass corsair gaming PC case and a MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB GDDR5X PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support Video Card GTX 1080 Ti LIGHTNING X

Would this be a good combo to buy for that graphics card or would it be dumb and stupid? I've never thought about building a PC before but now I want to since I have those two parts.

Nice finds, and nice to be able to re-use case, PSU, etc. Yeah Asrock are definitely lower end, I use them mostly in "appliance" style builds (pFsense router, HTPCs, etc.). Good luck with your build.

Update bios?

https://www.asus.com/motherboards...desk_bios/

Quite a few recent revisions. Looking at dates two most recent are about a month apart. Seems asus releasing them almost on a monthly bases. Will have to read up on this.

Hey building a PC can seem daunting but nowadays its fairly easy and straight forward. As far as your case and graphics cards go, the graphics card is definitely compatible. The case *should* be also, though its hard to say without a specific model #.

This CPU/MOBO combo is a few generations (years) newer than the graphics card so the graphics card will be your bottleneck. Depending on how you plan to game, gaming in 1080p will work great while higher res (1440p or 4k) will start to stutter with more graphically loaded games.

Overall I think this is a great deal to jump on, all you need is RAM (DDR4) and storage (m2).
For RAM I paired mine with this:
Amazon [amazon.com]

...and a quality power supply, and likely an upgraded CPU cooler.

* * * I'd recommend Corsair or Seasonic, gold rated or better...850W or higher (1000W ideally for upgrades to the newest gen eventually), fully modular for ease of installation and less clutter/airflow restriction in the case * * *

Any suggestions for a full size tower without any rgb? Something similar to an antec 1200 from days past.
Antec still makes some good cases. Their P10C and P10 Flux are nice and quiet. Depends if you need optical bays though. Almost all the cases these days have gong away from the 5.25" bays. The P10 still has one thankfully. (I'm not sure if this is the best deal or not) https://www.amazon.com/Antec-P10-...to_dp&th=1

EDIT: I guess those are only mid-tower cases. The full tower has disappeared from many brands as well.
