Closest Microcenter to me is about 4 hours away. I cry myself to sleep every time I see awesome deals at their store. I plan to make a field trip there some day.

For now using an older hyper evo 212 v2. It's keeping temps around ~70C in cinebench 23 (~228xx). Winrar a bit lacking, 27xxx, get 41xxx on my 5900x.

For ram using teamgroup tcreate 3600mhz ddr4, 2 different 32gb kits. Doesn't appear to have issues with all 64gb in prime95 torture (balanced) test when run at xmp speeds.

I'm starting to think almost all air coolers dont fit over the VRMs on this board! Hmm...
My Noctua NH-D15 fits fine, rear fan just needs to be mounted up a bit.

Some manufacturers do offer free adapters, like Noctua. So best to google your specific cooler to find out. I actually considered reusing my Noctua NH-D14 but Noctua took like 3 weeks to get me an adapter so I got a Deepcool AK620 for like $43 after tax instead. I guess my kid will get my NH-D14 in his Minecraft rig lol
Yeah, I saw the free mounting plate… then saw it was 9.90$ on Amazon and got it in a day 🙃

Thanks OP tried for a few days and stock gods were kind to me this morning. Tustin location.
Did it show in stock online or was it "sold out" online but you went straight to the store and found it?

These Microcenter deals are usually always just for 1 single Motherboard and usually just 1 particular CPU. That is not the same as their $20-$50 CPU/MB bundle discount. This is a free MB, which saves quite a bit.

There are 4 current deals:

Many reddit threads reporting audio issues with this mobo.

Anyone having problems?

I've been poking around in hwinfo64 and lspci -n. With the 12700K, I can't find the realtek 1220 audio listed. The only audio device that enumerates is the intel (vid 8086). I wonder if the realtek audio is somehow getting disabled when a cpu with igpu is present. Of course, onboard audio is enabled in the bios.

Not sure what the reviewer is testing. I did a bit of my own with youtube and analog headphones). Sounds fine to me. If I were running this to the tv then the audio would be via hdmi, completely bypassing the onboard realtek¿?

According to tomshardware, this board has the Realtek ALC1220 codec, which is reasonably good.

Other notes;

Had to flash to latest bios to get memory working stable at 1T. With the 1720 bios windows was crashing upon boot. Still all 4 slots populated with ddr4 3600mhz 16GB modules.

For the VFIO folks, the iommu groups are great here, each slot is its own groups, same for onboard sata, ethernet, wifi, and nvme slots.

Speaking of ethernet, i225v is rev3 and actually appears to be stable. Not sure if its because of win11 (haven't tried win10), or they finally fixed it.

Tom is wrong.
It is ALC 897.

Anyone care to share the build list? And possibly where to get it?

Good idea. GN did a review on this too, saved enough degrees to make it worth while.

Thank you for the link. Forgot about the asus comparison matrix pdf (they have this for each of their chipset series). I suppose asus had to cut some corners. One does get the z690 chipset, hdmi 2.1, usb c front panel header and a reasonable amount of slots. MSRP at release was $290, so not exactly a cheap board, but at the lower end of the z690 chipset pricing spectrum I suppose.

I don't really see the audio as that big of an issue. If one wants true digital, either use the optical out or get a hdmi/dp box that extracts the audio. It's still odd the realtek doesn't show up in device mgr or lspci.

About a year ago I used a tuf b550 plus wifi in a build, while lacking other features, it did include the alc1220 audio.
