You use this to get a good board, Sell the 12700k on ebay for $300 after fees and then buy a 13600k.
Was hoping i'd be able to do that.

For everything else, M2 is great. Tiny and up to 10x faster than SATA SSD.
I use (3) of my M2 slots. One NVME for the OS/App drive, one NVME for games, and the third is an extra M2 SATA I had lying around. I use the last for general storage. Yes, I could use 1 single M2 for all, but then anyone can use one single SATA SSD or HDD for everything too.
My current NAS runs (4) SATA HDD. I have a SAS card to add up to 8 add'l HDDs when/if needed.
If I ever need even more SATA ports, I'll get a second SAS card.
Some parts from amz came in today - the thermalright cpu frame and PA120 cooler. The latter was around $43 after tax, $14 for the plate.
Win11 stock performance
C23 - ~23100 points, winrar ~28,000
Temps mostly low 70's.
Prime95 torture test L3 (highest heat) all cores, temps low-mid 70's, one core 77/78C. According to the kill-a-watt meter, the entire board (board, 1 m.2 ssd, 1 sata ssd, logitech wireless keyboard dongle and nothing else) was pulling 270W at the mains! Insane.
Power supply is a evga G+ 650W. At that 270W, PF was .99 (99% efficient).
I'm very impressed with that cooler. $40 and cools as good as some AIO's. Not sure how well it would do long term (30min, 60min, several hours load), but for short term quite well.
Need to read up on OC'ing, maybe bump things up a bit since there's the thermal headroom.

Sure they want to get rid of old tech, but giving a board for free - even if it's worth ~$150-200 (on ebay) is a pretty good deal. Wonder what their criteria is for choosing which boards to bundle. I think to date this is the most featureful board in such a bundle.
@Nattefrost, can't answer that. I haven't played a video game in many years. Research what the power requirements are of that card. The fact the cpu + board under full load takes upwards of 300 watts is telling to say the least.

I had 4 16GB 3600 mhz ddr4 modules collecting dust in one system (one that would work just fine with 32gb). So 32gb there and 32gb here.
I think for most non gaming and non content creation uses - most of today's cpu's are overkill. For the latter of course you want top shelf cpu's, ram, storage.

It's not some mb's, it's about ALL motherboards with 4 slots use the "second" pair of slots as the primary, as counted from the cpu side of the memory. RTM.
