Closest Microcenter to me is about 4 hours away. I cry myself to sleep every time I see awesome deals at their store. I plan to make a field trip there some day.

Can anyone comment on the audio quality of this ALC897 implementation?
Left/Right bleed, signal to noise, tonal quality?
I have read some bad reviews...

I watched the Gamers Nexus video and determined it was worth a $13 upgrade (with tax). I figured if I'm going to run this for several years, I'd prefer it to have the most stable thermals. You must have pretty good cooling. My current 3700X gets warmer than that when encoding (I use a Noctua D15S.), but I also prefer a dead quiet case so Its in a 10 year old Fractal Define R4 which does not have the "best" airflow by today's standards.
I have a $45 PA120SE tower air cooler I bought off Amazon. It supports LGA1700 out of the box, but many other towers do too. I got the PA120 because it was the cheapest LGA1700 air cooler that had solid reviews. I even used the included thermal paste that came with it. The horror! Stick Out Tongue

Maybe the stock Intel cooler has issues? The PA120 has two bars that mount on top of the standoffs and a backplate on the backside of the MB. Honestly, I thought all aftermarket coolers worked like that. My Dark Pro 3 had similar. Since its a 12700k CPU, people have to get a cooler anyway. I imagine most AM coolers will be designed similarly. Does someone need a backplate AND a front plate?! Hmmm.

$13 is tax or less, so no biggie on the extra bracket, but I'm just letting others know maybe not to worry so much about their MB snapping in half and their CPU catching fire..

I've only used optical. No issues so far...although there shouldn't be.

Since this board has BT, you can also choose to use that (AAC) should the wired out be poor.

A post in the comments suggests it's a ME issue, linking to a asus forum post. Comments indicate updating ME firmware/driver fixes.
The m.2 drive issue, not the CPU perf issue

I wouldn't "fill the slots" just to fill them. Unless you see you are using more than 90% of that 32GB, there is no benefit. In fact, it may hurt stability. Most gamers say that 16GB is enough even for 4K gaming. 32GB is recommended for Video Editing unless for some reason, you get into 8K video editing, then maybe you might need 64GB.
32gb it is. You saved me half the money on memory towards graphics card. Thanks!

Southern Cal gang, listen up. I'm at Tustin branch right now and both the 12700k and Z690 are in stock. I counted nine Z690 on the shelf. And there are tons of 12700k.

So if you want this combo, it is available. Don't trust the "out-of-stock" status on the MC website.

Edit: I was blind. There's actually a whole other section for the Z690. So the total count on the shelf should be about 30+.

Coworker and I went after work to get the bundles. Seems like Sharonville got a bunch since yesterday since they are showing 25+ for both items in stock.

Since i'm on a team blue roll here, picked this up at costco this afternoon.

https://www.costco.com/lenovo-leg...76642.html

I don't game so the 3050 is not too usable other than maybe when encoding something. It is required for the hdmi out - although the machine supports usb c video too (using igpu?). Def not as fast as the 12700k, but adequate for a laptop and an improvement over my 2540m from a decade ago.

Damn and I thought I waited long to upgrade my 560ti to 970. Going from 4790k to this, my 4790k came with a free motherboard as well when microcenter had a misprint advertising a free motherboard, they ended up honoring the deal to a lot of people. Has anyone moved their 212 evo cooler over to a lga1700 bracket yet? I only see brackets for the newer models, think im gonna have to buy a new cooler now as well

If you are trying to be frugal, get some reliable Corsair 3200MHz C16. I think its $90 for 2x16GB. Not sure the upgrade to 3600MHz is worth it.
