What I learned is that you must buy a specific model. A brand can have the best in class hard drives, and the worst "economical line" hard drives. It's very polarized. I'll definitely look into the recertified Seagate X18 18TB. It's top of the line. Frankly, it's a better hard drive than this 14TB in terms of material and build quality. It's bigger. It's cheaper. It seems to be the drive for my use case.
