In my opinion FLIR has dropped the ball in the last 5 years. Other manufacturers (InfiRay e.g.) have much better resolution/refresh rate at similar or cheaper prices.

There is. I think there used to be a micro USB version too for older Androids.

The micro version was 200 only a week ago. It's a really cool tool. I think it always drops in the wintertime because this is often used for beefing up insulation ratings in homes. But if it's not hot, it's hard to tell where your homes weak spots are.

My mind is blown that the top dogs like flir have some garbage products and little competition that other random Amazon companies can produce stuff that is so much better (as noted in earlier comments).

I bought a $1000 flir handheld thermal scanner last year and when it booted up the FIRST time it got stuck in a bootloop (flir loading screen just sat there froze). Called them several times, nothing they could do. Had to return it. Never again Flir.

I bought a Hikmicro E1L a few months ago. I've been very happy with it. You find all kinds of uses for it. The laser is helpful for visual reference of what you are looking at on the screen. One of my more unfortunate and random uses for it has been finding where one of our cats has been pissing on the carpet. Any evaporating liquids will show up on the camera as they slightly cool when evaporating. The temperature difference between ambient is fairly miniscule but the camera can clearly visualize it.

Found a spot in my rotomolded igloo cooler that is poorly insulated: https://i.imgur.com/kZlM4Uk.png

You can save images to a microSD card on the unit.

Flir, if we wait until next the next iPhone when the iPhone has USB-C?

Seriously though, I don't want to buy anything with a lightening cable when iirc the port is changing with the next iPhone.

I had the LT version and like what other have suggested, battery died after just a few days of not charging (less than 1 week) and it will not boot up. Look it up. You can replace the battery by opening it up though. I have not done so.

Ditto, I bought a FLIR Scion OTM366 for $800 when Optics planet was having some crazy sale for $800 (normally these run from $2500 - $3000)...thing was CRAP in my opinion. It was like looking through a paper towel roll the field of view was so small. Useless inside 100 yards and beyond 100 yards did not pick up anything but full sized human / deer sized sources of heat IF they were 100% exposed. Forget if the person was wearing pants and long sleeves. No to the deer if part of it was behind a tiny bush or was an animal with a thicker coat.. Sold it on ebay for $1500 profit and afterwards, bought a Taipan TM10-256 for $500 off Amazon. Could not be happier. I can use it from 10' to 500'+, indoor ranges to outdoor and it can detect....heat...imagine that Wink
