I chatted with OnePlus support online.

"I would like to inform you that OnePlus 9 Unlocked devices come with globally unified and unlocked device from the factory itself. It will support all carrier bands.
And OnePlus 9 T-Mobile Unlock is carrier locked device. And due to website error it is mentioned as T-Mobile Unlock. However, it is carrier locked device.
LE2115 is North America unlock variant device and LE2117 is T-Mobile."

So I definitely want Unlocked (LE2115). Although this T-Mobile version might work for me now since I am on Mint (T-Mobile MVNO), I want to have the flexibility to use the phone on other carriers, e.g., when I travel overseas.

Am I the only one that has terrible issues with typing on this phone? I used it for a while when I sent my Pixel 6 is for repair and it would miss letters constantly. I could not figure out why it would fail to register my typing.

Edit: someone asked if I have a screen protector. I do not. I had also spent some time troubleshooting it, full wipe, set up as new no backup restored, clearing data, turning off vibration, a different keyboard, etc etc. Issue persisted. I sort of wanted to stick with it but I can't deal with typing issues.

TMobile unlocked is unlocked. It just means the software updates won't come to you in time as TMobile will have to do their fixes to the additional stuff they have added to os and send it out. Generally lot of times the updates take extra months. Especially on an old phone
Can you show your Oneplus 9 T-mobile phone showing as unlocked? Because I bought this exact phone last week "T-mobile Unlock" version and could not get it unlocked. Requested through Settings as usual but came back as Unlock Failed. This device is not eligible for Unlock.

Oneplus CS didn't know jack shit so I had to return it

Yeah. I wanted to make a fuss with OnePlus about this. They are advertising 200 extra trade in for the 9 in the 9 purchase page but wont honor it
Oneplus 9 is not eligible for bonus, only 9 Pro and 10 Series

What's the diff between "T-Mobile Unlocked" and Unlocked? No AT&T bands? one-SIM vs 2-SIM?
1. You get TMobile startup logo(bootloader)
2. TMobile traces your calls(records actual and uses). How do I know ? You will see random ads about stuff you speak about on the device.
3. Software and security updates are controlled by Tmo.
That's three so far I have experienced. Hope this helps.

I remember that deal but didn't you have to use it on t mobile or another network for a time then you can unlock it? No way it's $50 no strings attached.
$50 was if you add a tmobile line. $150 was for T-Mobile without adding a line. Both required 40 days of use to unlock.

That deal was from BB and those phones were unlocked. I picked up 2 on my TMO account as an upgrade and both phones are being used on non TMO network.

"T-Mobile Unlocked" is an unlocked phone that works on any carrier, but it's running the T-Mobile version of the ROM. It's the same as having the locked T-Mobile phone that's been unlocked after 60 days, but this phone comes unlocked. The only downsides vs the "international unlocked" ROM are the T-Mobile spashscreen when the phone first turns on, and software updates will come from T-Mobile, and those updates will come a little later after T-Mobile approves them. You can fix those (non)issues by flashing the "International Unlocked" ROM to the phone.

You can unlock the bootloader and flash the international ROM to get rid of those issues. I flashed mine mainly because T-Mobile is slow with updates.

But you have to install the modem every time you update or else you don't have service at all right?

I have a pixel 4a and that's been my only complaint besides battery size I type something and 3 letters outa 5 are not there so annoying. I came from Motorola and have never experienced that on them I don't think I'm gonna stick with Google because they could do so much better in the phone game with their resources but yeah mine too.

No. That was only the 9 Pro, because it has a mmWave modem, and you only need to flash the modem when your flash the ROM on that phone. It updates normally after that.
