I don't think you can trade in S22+ with the S22U (if it does become available again), because S22+ is not on the trade in list.
The helpful mobile associate explained why they don't like to fulfill this promotion because selling phones or accessories outright doesn't net them any commissions, only activations and plans do. That's why they don't like getting flooded with trade ins (she admitted it was a good deal) because it may make her miss a commission sale.
Overall she was a pro at it and we finished in 10 min. This was the process.
1. Asked for my phone # to pull up my best buy rewards account
2. Traded in my S21
3. The system generated a $200 physical best buy gift card
4. Ordered the $800 S22+ (256GB) unlocked to be shipped to my home since the store is out of it
5. System automatically applies a $600 coupon
6. Remaining total is $200+tax
7. Associate applied the $200 gift card she loaded for me from step 3 and I just paid the remaining tax
Of course if you got the 128GB for $50 less, you'd keep the remaining balance on the gift card. No need to pull up my postpaid carrier plan

The last store I went to had me go to customer service to do the trade in. The rep there said my s21 was only worth $200. So I mention this promotion to them, but they didn't know what it was and walked me over to another phone rep by their mobile area. This rep knew what she was doing and knew about the promo right away. I did the deal with her easily, but she said I couldn't stack the activation bonus. At this point, I was just happen to get the deal to work and didn't want to take a chance with the s22+ sale ending on the 10th. Another thing was that she said she couldn't get the system to give me the remaining balance on a gift card for some reason and suggested that I get a case to not lose the balance. I needed a case anyway so went with an otterbox and paid a small difference.
Love this deal! wish I was able to get the t-mobile activation bonus but I am still happy with pretty much a free upgrade to a new and better phone.
Man which NYC stores if I may ask? BEWARE the LIC one, as I saw a family walk out after the sales associates there huddled to try and bundle an insurance package as a requirement for trade-in.

Today 11/10/22 I went into BB again around 6pm to do the same deal but this time I'm getting the S2+ 256GB. The rep who helped me was very knowledgeable did everything correct. Accept one part, that I fail to mention the T-MO upgrade. So after the receipt was printed out and I compared with my old receipt. I didn't see the add'l $250. I showed to the rep the comparison. She was so helpful, she canceled the whole transaction and redo the entire thing again! Here's the breakdown:

The second transaction I didn't mention about the upgrade so I guess I lost that add'l disc. But after clarifying I want to upgrade a line. I think that is where BB rep go into your phone account and upgrade whatever line you chose. From there the bundle T-MO $250 disc kick in along with all the saving.
