Not great, as it makes this much more of a right price rather than a slickdeal. This is the dual-core i-series CPU, putting it head and shoulders above any of the Atom-based CPU systems at even slightly lower prices (typically in the $200-ish price point). However, a true slickdeal at this price point, and a much better long-term investment as a productivity laptop, would be a laptop equipped with a four core i series CPU (these kind of deals did exist in the prior black friday).

A search for i3 laptop sorted by newest listing and filtered for under $300 had multiple pages of listings over the last year of comparable dual-core i-series laptops priced between $200-300.

Good luck!

Are your referring to that HP one for $255?
It has a more capable and few months newer 4C/8T AMD Ryzen 3 5300U processor (vs this 2C/4T Core i3 1115G4). with higher multi-core Passmark of 10040 against 6212 of Acer, though the Core i3 1115G4 performs slightly better in single-core tasks (HP 2379 vs Acer 2674).

Both have upgradable 8GB RAM (Acer has 1x4GB soldered + 4GB removable, HP has 2x4GB removable), same 256GB SSD storage and inferior non-IPS FHD display panel.

I understand that HP laptop offers HP Fast Charge, which will take you from zero to 50% charge in just 30-45 minutes

In all aspects, I'd go for the HP for $5 more, unless you will need the RJ-45 LAN port which only Acer has.

That one is U series CPU. Asus is P. The only thing better in U is the low power consumption. If battery life is not important, P series CPU in Asus is better.
$300 is $50 more than this $250. Dual core i3 is good enough for some people who just need to browse or do regular office work.
Anything ๐Ÿ˜†. Lenovo one has more cores. That is recent processor compared to this acer. That has usbc full fledged( display, data, charge). Backlit keyboard. Wifi6 compared to wifi5 in Acer. Lenovo support is always better than Acer. Do u want more? Lenovo one is better processor and specs almost all aspects

Why not this It looks better than this one and Asus. Still on deal. Check the SD thread on this.

https://www.officedepot.com/a/pro...56-Screen/
Thread on that one is here:
https://slickdeals.net/f/16253311-lenovo-ideapad-3i-15-6-quot-fhd-intel-i3-1215u-8gb-ram-256gb-ssd-windows-11-299-99-office-depot?v=1

Being 15", I like it better than the Lenovo linked earlier (from Target) as that one is only 14". I'm wondering if Office Depot is offering this, why Best Buy/Amazon/Walmart don't have something similar. I haven't bought anything from OD in years.

Which one is 14"? The one i shared link of officedepot is 15.6". Regarding your question why they are offering well thats what happens when same standard items are sold across stores. Thats why Costco has their own slightly different model so price match outside but price adjustment with his own price within 30 days. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just bought this for $150,

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gatewa.../996759914

Can anyone comment without laughing at me if this will be ok for the same use scenario as the one this thread is about? 4gb ram is the limiting factor, aside from that is it somewhat comparable?

I have been using even worse, a modded 15.6 acer chromebook with windows 10 on it
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Chrom...B00T03KQ34

The modded chromebook is slow but it uses low power which has been good for my off grid setup, curious if this $150 one will give me a boost in performance without eating too much more power or if I really should spend more.

Black-color is sold-out. The blue-color is the only one left that is still available for $149:

Yes, it is worth $149, but it doesn't seem to get that many interests as I thought. It was previously on frontpage last week.

Thanks, I already received it and am sending it back. For the money it's not bad but the speakers are really really weak and tinny and sound more like the speaker on my phone than the average laptop speakers. Too weak to use for youtube and netflix etc.

The screen has a lot of light bleed and uneven backlight and poor contrast kinda flat.

The mouse pad is way left of where I want it to be, makes it uncomfortable and scrolling not work the angle it forces my hand to be.

The keyboard has a number pad I'd rather not be there and just screws up what I'm used to.

Overall I prefer my old chromebook 15 even though it's way slower. If this had speakers of similar quality to the chromebook 15 I might live with the rest of the flaws.
