Boy I like this deal but that display might kill it. Also most ASUS TUF laptops are IPS LIKE not true IPS. Keep in mind.

Exactly. The display is not very bright and has horrible color accuracy.. if they could have squeezed out a slightly better panel at that price, it would have been very tempting.

If they had done that I probably would have returned my A5 K1 even though it has a 3060 and gotten this just for the better processor and adaptive sync. Considering the ram upgrade you'd need for this one they're the same price.

I was concerned as well but for the price and some reviews I watched, its on par for other budget gaming laptops, so I jumped on this. I'm not saying you have to accept it, just something to consider. This is my daily driver for work/travel that could do some decent gaming so it works out for me.

Yeah. If I used it mostly at home, I'd probably hook up an external monitor to it.. heck, I have a portable gaming monitor I bought from Amazon for $170 that is 144hz IPS with 100% color grommet (whatever that is).

The only scenario where I can recommend this laptop is if you really need the extra 2 cores from the 6800H (a bit faster than 5800H). Otherwise, get the Gigabyte A5 K1, for $30 more you get way faster gpu and better screen, but reduced cores (8 cores in 6800H vs 6 cores in 5600H).

The reduced cores do not matter in most games especially with only 3060 where you would be GPU bottlenecked most of the time, it only matters in cpu heavy workloads.

I saw this in store yesterday and could not get past the dark screen. I had to pick it up to read the screen and see properly. The nearby Lenovos and HPs looked far brighter and more pleasing to view.

I bought it and returned it and got myself an open box G15 released in 2021 with 16GB/3070/Ryzen9 even if the 3070 is 100W max for $800 locally.

Reasons: brighter screen, lighter chassis, double the storage, QHD resolution over FHD, more RAM (even if it is DDR4), a fingerprint scanner that A15 does not have, and much much better speakers, and of course, better overall configuration. And I personally find the TUF logo / wannabe military styling everywhere and the overall design and branding cheesy.

$750 including taxes is a great value if you don't care about fingerprint scanners and can live with below average speakers. There's plenty of power still and 3050 Ti is no slouch and will run most games at FHD at medium to high settings.

Edit: I mean Asus Zephyrus G15

The TUF series is one of the lowest quality gaming laptops, according to reviews. The ROG series is the one with better quality.
