I haven't heard the 300 but I needed one for my parents living room 85" tv. I personally would need a sub plus bar but this sufficed. It's quite surprising how loud and crystal clear it gets.
For a bedroom this is excellent, assuming anything louder would cause noise problems
I bought this 2-3 years ago for $180 from dell. BOSE increase the baseline price of this like most products and manufacturers by a bit. So $200 is pretty good

On the bose website, it says you can but need an additional connector cable
