It is way better for the $179 price point and you have no idea what you're talking about. Even Chromebooks or laptops below $400 mark, normally come with similar display. For $179, a afull HD IPS 250nits Display is pretty decent.

I'm very impressed with this Chromebook for the price. It runs smoothly and it has great battery life.

The 14-in screen is a great size. Not that it's important to a lot of people, but the thin bezels just make for a more premium experience in my opinion.
I see some mentioning a yellow tent on the screen. I haven't really noticed it with mine but I didn't do a side by side comparison either.

My only complaint is the text on the keyboard is very difficult to read in some lighting/angles. I turned off the backlit keys and this does help. But for the price it is doable. Other than that the keyboard is very pleasant to type on.

It charges quickly. The USB C ports work for docking so I can hook it up to our monitor and it charges simultaneously.

I purchased two of these laptops so that my kids can use them for their homeschooling.

I love my Dell XPS 13, but I'm also okay working off of this Chromebook. That should tell you something.

Its a good deal if you want a chromebook and don't want to spend more than 200. 8gb ram is very rare at this price point and a considerable factor to perceive speed of the device.

Does anyone have any input on how this Chromebook performs with Android apps?

FYI I owned this laptop 2x in the past (with 4gb RAM) and it was good overall even with the lower ram…

EXCEPT - it has the strongest magnet I've ever seen on a laptop holding it closed and was too much of a pain for my 6YO.
Not a deal breaker for an adult but strange and annoying (The Chrome Unboxed review details this as well)

Yeah, since my HP x360 I've gotten used to sliding a used card from a sim card kit in between the lid and deck. It's no biggie.

does this have any speaker??? i dont see in the spec nor see in the photos
One on each side. They're fine, imo.

Thread from previous deal a few weeks ago.

How does it charge? My older Acer 11's have the plug in charger (non-usb) that I really love because the cord has 360 degrees mobility.

USB-C charger. It will charge via the USB-C port on either side of the laptop.

It'll even accept charging from low power chargers. I can charge this laptop from the USB port on my couch.

It's slow for its specs.

It has good specs on paper, but the issue is emmc which makes it slow, noticeable for me at least. Lenovo flex 5 13 inch chrome book has upgradable ssd, though has 4 gb ran js much faster than this. I returned the asus chromebook.

Find Lenovo one if you can.

If you just want to copy photos from phone to somewhere else.... Get a usbC flash drive, use it to connect to phone directly and skip the laptop entirely

(If photos are important, should store in 2 other places)

For installing apps, do they work ok in the sd card? In some other thread, someone had mentioned apps in SD card don't work as well

Is 64G enough?
I wouldn't count on the SD working for Android Apps as it doesn't work in real android anymore. If you use the linux on it, you should be able in theory to mount a sd card or usb and run linux APPS off of it.

64G is enough if you plan to just browse the web and plan to install limited amount of android apps. Its not gonna work if you are planning to play more than 1 fat games like modern warfare or genshin type games (may not run on intel ). If you plan to run linux, they reccommend at least 10gigs devoted just for that.

If you're referring to the Google play apps, then no. But if the app supports saving to storage, for example downloading a Netflix movie through the app to view offline, then the app will allow you to store the movie on the sd card.

We're replacing an older Asus Chromebook which has reached end of life, but the device still works pretty decent.

What about battery life on this bad boy, anyone have feedback?

Isn't 64G too less if that is the case?

64G seems low in that case - 128G seems like it should be minimum.....
