Ableton lite limits you to 8 tracks, but has plenty of tools to make music with

If you're gonna use Ableton with this, it could be a good deal. Otherwise it's not much of a controller.

The Launchpad Pro is the only one with regular midi-outs. It's got note/chord mode and an on board sequencer so you could use it without a computer. I think that's the one to get if you're interested in this category. With the X or the mini you're totally relying on computer software mapping.

possibly, using the stage light module in Ableton Lite. You can use it right out of the box if you want your living room to look like a disco.
