its a good price for the original cube. it would be great as a nostalgic keepsake. but if you want to play with cubes this is actually not gonna be too fun. highly suggest a moyu or qiyi branded speed cube. if you can buy a budget magnetic one (typically $10) but if not a Qiyi Warrior W is only about $5 and they turn so much better than the original rubik's cube.

There's an algorithm. About 5-6 primary moves. Then it's about practicing those moves. I picked up learning because kids kept bringing mini shitty cubes and I was determined to learn it. Now it's easy to solve but not quick
Some great recommendations above, but in my personal opinion, not blatantly clear enough -- please please please do not get the original rubix cube for yourself or anyone you care about. They do not spin well, are not conducive to learning, fun, stress relief, or developing muscle memory. So much energy will be wasted just trying to get the cube to do what you want it to do, that it will distract from learning and enjoyment.
Get any of the stickerless speed cubes on Amazon and they will be leaps and bounds better than this. The cheap magnetic ones are a little better than the cheap non-magnetic ones, but not necessary. Then again, the cheap magnetic ones are only $10-15 more than the non-magnetic ones, so that's up to you.
Source, learned to speed cube up to 5x5's with cheap Amazon stickerless speed cubes, and have taught the 2x2 and 3x3s to my 10 year olds.

Save yourself the frustration and pick up a cheap Moyu or Gan cube from speedcubeshop or Amazon. I am by no means a speed cuber but the original Rubix Cube is just not fun to learn on or use.
Gan 356 or Moyu RSM are well built and less than $20.
