I'm not a huge fan of Domino's but their thin crust pizza is ok. SoCal is pretty much a wasteland for pizza. There are a few good spots but you really have to pay an arm and a leg to go there. It's the old price vs quality debate. Do you pay $20 or more for a pizza you really like or $5 at Domino's for a pizza that's just ok?

Have you tried talking to the shop owner/manager and saying I need xxx pies, whats the best you can do for me? I know there are mom and pop places in my area that cut deals when someone approaches them like that.

Maybe they need some shampoo...lol

Now if someone would just put a Rite Aid anywhere near me. I will have to say, though, when I traveled for business to places that had Rite Aids, every time I went into one they were dark, dirty, understaffed and a total mess. So maybe I don't want one. LOL

I was just reading the comments to my husband. He wants to move South. I don't think he's prepared for not having the convenience of NJ, but he says he is.

Like I said in my OP I'm not really a fan of Dominoes. That said I havent had it in years so if I get a slice when I do my buy for the group, I may convert. Especially since our preferred pizza place seemingly goes up a dollar or two every time we order. I think we are up to $30 for a large cheese which seems insane.



I havent. Part of the problem is I wont know until the day of how much pizza to get. It could be that 4 kids show...or 40.



LOL I can probably stock them with enough toothpaste that they can run a bogo deal for a day or two.

Are you a thrifter? Sometimes you get the best scores at those dark, dingy shops. Think of RA the same way. It's probably the scruffiest of the big 3 but the bast deals IMO. I think they tend to inhabit older buildings too, which doesnt help with the scruffy.



I had budget money in a use it or lose it situation last year which is why I bought those Dominoes GCs. Knowing we had a couple of events where we wanted to buy pizzas coming up in the 2023 year I looked for those GCs I could get a deal on. I got a similar deal when I bought (Costco) so for those that like Dominoes it looks like these deals come around.



Like SE US? So VERY different. I moved from NY to southern NC and there are a lot of us northerners in the area but they are mostly retirees so very few are opening businesses. I'm not going to say one area is better than the other, they each have their good points IMO but they are so very different.

I am shocked by the pizza discussions. A pizza wasteland in parts of California? What do they eat there? I mean, I personally like Mexican food more than pizza or other Italian, but I can't imagine being somewhere where it's hard to get decent pizza. I live in New Jersey, and there's a pizza place in almost every shopping center (small strip mall places). I was just reading the comments to my husband. He wants to move South. Don't you have little mom and pop Mexican places in California the way we have mom and pop (independently run) pizza places in New Jersey? Actually, we have independently run Mexican places here too, but I'd think they'd be everywhere in California.

So I went to three Rite Aids this morning and got my Dominos gift cards. No problem, the deal worked perfectly. I was also trying to find All, Snuggle, and Aquafina. They only had the white All, no Snuggle anywhere, and also no Aquafina. I needed the Aquafina to finish using up my Bonus Cash for this week. Oh well, it's only $8 that I have to deal with. Everything else expires on the 21st. I was looking at Nature's Truth and most of the gummies had $2 hangtags that expire at the end of the year. They are only good on the gummies. I might have tried the NT deal if I was able to get a cat but no such luck. Actually, I should've done the deal last week but no use crying over spilled nutrients...

The best pizza I've found is Giorgio's in Sherman Oaks but I haven't been there in a very long time. I also like Chi Chi's and I used to think that they were expensive but you can get two of their pizzas for the price of one at Round Table. There's also a deli that I like that makes really good pizzas. San Carlo. It's right next to a Rite Aid in the Valley but I'm almost never out that way. If I am, I'm probably lost. The Rite Aid there certainly isn't worth the trip. There's another good deli in the Valley called Italia. Both San Carlo and Italia have homemade rolls that are out of this world. You know that you're in the right place at San Carlo because everybody there is either Italian or a police officer. Italia (the one in Granada Hills) is very lacking in customer service but the food is great. There's a legendary pizza place in the Valley but I've never been there and can't remember the name. There's also a Mexican place that I've never been able to find that is supposed to be the best Mexican food that I'll ever have. I've probably driven by it a million times but didn't know it. Unfortunately, where I live we just have places like Domino's and McDonald's. If you really want to splurge there's 7-11.

Many places that used to be fantastic before the pandemic aren't that good anymore. One such place is The Bear Pit in Mission Hills. They used to have the best barbeque anywhere but now it sucks and they changed their garlic bread. They should be charged with a crime for that. There's also a little Chinese place hidden away on Devonshire and Reseda that used to have the best Chinese food in the Valley but my brother says that they've gone way downhill and aren't that good anymore. The best Chinese place I have by me is Panda Express and I don't like them at all. I guess that the orange chicken is ok but that's about it.

Yes, he wants to move to the SE. I rooting for the Mid Atlantic area. He gets very grouchy in the winter. Very. It's not so much about the daylight, it's just the cold. (Although we've had a remarkably mild January.)

True confession: I once bartered some makeup (when I worked at a makeup counter) with the woman who worked at the perfume counter. This was not stolen merchandise, the companies would send us stuff to try out and wear. Anyway, I had all this high-end fragrance in my trunk. I had bought some really pretty fabric and wanted it made into throw pillow covers, but I don't sew. I tried to barter it at a drycleaning place that did alterations. The woman said no but then she came out to my car and actually wanted to buy some of the stuff, so I think we did a small deal (this was years ago). I don't know why I was feeling so gutsy. So it can be done.

$30? That's insane. RA isn't like it used to be. You aren't missing anything. When RA sold all of those stores to Wags, the new CEO, Heyward (I could make a joke here but I won't), decided to punish all of the loyal store customers by taking away our deals and giving them to the online shoppers. I have nothing against giving deals to people who lost their stores but why take it out on us? We weren't the ones who sold the stores. Things just got worse and worse after that. Customers got pissed off at the higher store prices and lack of stock (not to mention that we lost our 20% gold discount) and employees stopped giving a damn. Then they came up with this new bonehead program where you play games all day and have to go to another site to make any money since the Bonus Cash deals are all but gone. Rite Aid should start with an I which is great if you play that game (and more power to you if you do) but if you just want to go into the store and get good deals it's impossible without doing the extra stuff. After I had my heart attack in early Oct, I was out of the game for 3 months. I lost around $600 in Bonus Cash that expired during that time. At least it was better than the alternative. I had to make a decision this month on if I should go back and start all over or call it quits for couponing. It looks like I made the wrong decision by going back. Jan and Feb have historically been the best months of the year for Rite Aid and I was hoping for more of the same but it's not to be. It's a challenge just to get to the store let alone worry about doing all of the other stuff.

All I can do is to take my meds, go on my walks, and try to follow my heart diet. I'm not doing a very good job of following my diet. I was at first but it's really hard.
