The math checks out that this is probably like last years BF deal for the reliant tires, with free one-time mounting and balancing included ($12 per tire)

Savings of $128 is $80 for the tires, $48 for the labor... Which comes out to $12 a tire. Since it's $17 for lifetime balancing and rotation (now) , you'd pay the $5 balance x 4 to get it to $68 total for labor.

You can also pay $10 x 4 for road hazard, but IMO, when tires are this cheap (for my car at least), it almost isn't worth it... Just get a new tire for that $40.

If you get goodyear brand tires, goodyear stores will fix your flats for free even if you didn't buy it from them... That's usually the bulk of the road hazard coverage that I acrually use.

I have the reliants on my '13 prius... No issues at all. Very thick tread depth even after a year, and though my car isn't a hotrod by any measure, these have worked great through all types of weather. Haven't tested them in the winter as I switch to winter every January.

In past years these deals included mounting and lifetime balance. I will update the OP once the full terms are available on Walmart.com.

UPDATE: The banner which was shared multiple times in this thread clearly shows free install and balance. I had a chat with Walmart, and they stated it is a free one-time balance with the installation. If I wanted lifetime balance, then I must pay extra. I contacted my local Walmart, and they confirmed this, and said they are doing free installs and one time balance up to and including Sunday November 27th.

Click the link below and look at post #342 for a screenshot showing free install and balance if you have a problem at the Walmart installation center.

Excellent! Any abnormal wear, sidewall bulge, or noise?
I came from michelin energy savers. I've put on about 5k miles on them since last Thanksgiving. Barely any wear on them at all.

Sidewalls are definitely thinner but no bubbles or bulges thus far.

I had them balanced a second time since I felt vibration right out of the shop the last time... Went to a more local Walmart which seems to have better management. They've been pretty good since then... definitely noisier than my old tires. I have them inflated to 40lbs all around. Not horrible, but nowhere near a grand-tourer.

However, their level of grip is incredible versus the energys, comparing new tires to new tires.

Im going to test their snow/ice traction this season for the first time so can't speak on that yet..the winter tires I swap into are into their 7th year and quite brittle.

Do I have to buy 4 to get the best savings? I only need 2 tires. My size was $89/tire and is now showing $69 for the Goodyear Reliant. Would I just pay 2x $69+tax?

I got my tires installed. It was so odd that the store made me pay for installation. I paid there then contacted walmart customer service and they refunded to my account. Overall good experience
I got my tires installed too. During the Order processing Walmart folks had a checkbox where it says $48 off. And it went smoothly from there. I paid 8$ for tires disposal and $8 for lifetime rotation. Pretty impressed overall

Thanks for your input. I suspect the Michelin may increase fuel mileage by 2-4% at the same tire pressure. The tread pattern could contribute to the noise.

I use a Harbor Freight tire balancer. After some minor adjustments, this tool is capable of 1/8 oz resolution. Those dynamic balance machines must be properly calibrated and the mechanic must follow proper procedure to achieve good result.

Most new tires don't require more than 1 oz to achieve perfect balance. You may need to reposition the tire if the rim is not true. The HF static tire balancer has never failed to fix an out of balance tire. Excessive noise can also occur if the tire is out of balance by 1/8 to 1/4 oz.

You can buy two. I got $10 off one tire ($57 - $10) using one of the $10 off $50 Walmart code in this forum.

Do I have to buy these tires to get the free install? Walmart has some pirellis in my size on sale that I would rather have, is it free install on any tires from Walmart?

How much did you pay for install? I've been seeing some people say $17, some say $12, some say $5...

So far I've had 2 orders cancelled. Both orders were from stores that said they were in-stock at the time of the order. Those orders were cancelled because apparently the stores didn't have them in stock. Today it looks like they are allowing orders to be shipped to your local walmart store (MAKE SURE YOUR LOCAL WALMART STORE HAS AN AUTO CENTER). There's a bunch of Walmarts within a 30 mile radius of me but only a couple have an auto center that actually installs tires.

So far the order has stuck. It looks like Walmart will be shipping the tires to the store. I just need these tires to last a few years then I can sell my car and let the next buyer deal with the longevity of the tires. LOL. I am a slickdealer after all! 😉

The banner at the top of walmart says: "Save $128 on 4 tires, install & balance
On select Goodyear & Cooper tires."

That should answer your question

Well, since this deal was full of glitches and nonsense I just took the quote to my local Discount Tire and Tires Plus. Then I let them duke it out with each other for an even lower price on comparable tires. Walked out with Tires Plus winning my money (as usual), and I'm getting four new 205/55R16 Falken Ziex ZE960s (my favorite tires) installed, balanced, and tax included for $298.59 out-the-door.

#Winning

Plus I made an appointment, so I'll be out the door in under 1 hour AND they'll be installed by people trained properly to do their job (looking at you Walmart #2734 who moved the incompetent cart pusher to TLE to fill the staffing hole. I used to work there...until the day that happened).
how did you pull this off?

If you plan to keep the car 3+ years and/or 25k+ then YES!!!

Longer life and better performance from the Outlast. The Reliant are ok entry level tires. But the Outlast are a good step above them.
got it. I'm just using it as daily driver to commute. Initially thinking of Michelin Defender, but this deal is so tempting lol

Tires Plus and Discount Tire both have "We won't be beat" mottos. Take the Walmart (or any other deal any time of the year) to them and they match or beat it, depending on how motivated the salesperson is. I typically go to one, get their best offer, then head to the other. They then try to beat the best offer. Then it turns into a Tires Plus vs Discount battle. Then I just ping-pong back and forth until one gives up.

This time Tires Plus just wanted to be super aggresssive and cut to the chase quickly. Tires Plus in my area has never given up. Discount usually does. In the countless attempts over the last 10 or so years for the countless cars I've owned and when my large family and friends ask me to hunt for them, Discount has only won once. I'd guess I've played this game about 100 times in that timeframe.

It also helps if you have multiple locations close by. If you get a salesperson who woke up on the wrong side of the bed, just try a different location. It also helps if the rivals are within a mile of each other...like in my case.

Ultimately, it boils down to YMMV. But it's never failed me.

Honestly, it usually only takes between 3-6 visits and you usually bottom out. Once they realize you're persistent and serious, they quit the games. Most cases it's about an hour (if the stores are within a mile like mine). But I usually save between $100-250 for that hour. Time well spent, and patience well rewarded.

Honestly you could do this over the phone also, but they tend to take you more seriously in-person. This typically also means you get a more aggressive deal in-person. Anyone can 'say' they got a certain price across the street, but when it's on paper in front of them they know it's legit.

It can't find any tires on sale when I put the car info in. It's a friends Chevy Trax with a 16" tire, thought it would be pretty common.

Nowhere does it say you're getting free installation it says you have to pay for it when picked up I'm not sure where the op is getting that from it's creating unrealistic expectations
