My wife has the costco helmet and it is not even close to a fox mainframe. Not exactly the one in that link I don't think, but the one that they've been selling at physical costcos for at least the past year (in season) for half that price.

Totally fine helmet overall (that's why I bought it) and the built in light is nice for riding in town...was a great deal at like $20-25....but it is not a serious MTB helmet.

The Fox Mainframe is a legit MTB helmet with nice big vents, relatively light weight, and full protection. It isn't as nice as the Speedframe, but it is still a legit helmet.

I wouldn't buy it if you are just looking for a basic helmet--costco in-store deal is better. But I wouldn't buy the Costco helmet if you were looking to actually ride MTB trails on the regular.

Good helmet. 5/5 stars in Virginia Tech's helmet testing lab.

This looks really similar maybe even a white label of the mips helmet costco was selling for half the cost.

this one? https://www.costco.com/freetown-g...56858.html

seems like a good option as well at 42.99, but the fox visor is definitely larger and intended for MTB use, where the costco option seems like a commuter helmet. in the event of a crash, probably will work equally as well.

I agree. I have the Costco one. It doesn't give the same protection as the fox. I'm getting the fox to replace the Costco helmet. I hope the speedframe pro goes on sale too.

This is much better than the costco helmet.

I wear TLD A3 because it fits my head well, so comfortable.

Fox don't fit me, but they are awesome too.

TLD a3 for 2x the price worth it? I guess a helmet that doesn't fit well is useless.

Probably out of season for bike helmets at Costco this year, but will check and watch for next season.

I got this helmet in a sale previously and it seems to be pretty solid. I am replacing an older Fox Flux helmet that I loved. I have a couple of observations if someone is also coming from the Fox Flux or similar helmet. The first one is that the front lip on the Mainframe is HUGE, it extends out so far that it take's getting use to but it helps with shade. And the second is the chin strap on my medium size seems abnormally short. The Fox Flux is also a S/M and I'm only halfway on the chinstraps, but I'm all the way at the end on the Mainframe and I can feel the chinstrap tugging if I open my jaw too wide. It's a really strange difference. So look out for these issues if you're thinking about the Mainframe.

Any suggestions on size? I checked out the chart and my head nearly lands right in the middle of medium and large (58.5cm). Better to size up?
I haven't worn a helmet since I was a kid, but I want to start riding trails with my buddy

Same, i ended up going with Medium. We'll see…they say its better to size down as you want it snug
