I feel like these are always $279… I think those other prices are inflated. They'd never sell at those prices…

It is a good deal for the price, but people like to crap on new faux Gateway stuff. I'd buy one if I needed one. Can't be as bad as the few loud people think.

I have exact computer - except black. I went thru 2 of these due to warranty issues. It's an AWFUL machine. Just trying to use mine for school work and I honestly wish I never bought it. First one had webcam issues and their "Tech support" is virtually non existent.

Not trying to rain on the OP post. I think it's a fantastic price for its specs but between the two machines, I had webcam issues touchpad issues, the touchpad would "jump" randomly on the screen at times, the "drivers" availability online is marginal. In fact- the second one, last week the display kept blacking out on me so I am waiting for it to screw up again because I will have to make a warranty claim.

I also got a SquareTrade plan on this computer and at present, I do not feel that it will last the 2 years under the extended service plan. While my experience may differ from you - if you had to ask me, I would say "RUN" from this machine.

Most of the notebooks at this price point have had 8gb of RAM withe no upgrade path. Not saying that this particular one is any good, just saying.

Can it be fixed? As in, I have a friend who is very knowledgable with computers. Would he be able to make the laptop better?

No. The included disk is SATA3, no NVMe support either.

I have a gateway purchased about a month ago not same one. Already problems with touchpad jumping and moving and clicking on its own. I got it for my kid to use it for school.

Hmm, I wonder if it supports 4k@60hz on the HDMI output. Probably not.

I might jump on it. However most of the negative reviews I've seen is that it's cheaply glued together. So i guess the screen area likes to fall apart

Been rasslin' over getting a Gateway 14" around this price, but right now, I just can't "sell myself" on getting lucky & not having problems. Heck, I don't need it anyway, just the SD effect. Repped though.

I wish the restored version was proportionally discounted. I bought some refurbished ones without any issues. I was surprised I could play games without overheating, unlike my dell.

Deal is over with, lol... I was reading the reviews as I had one in the cart and now they are sold out.

Oh well. It was a good deal for the specs but yeah, they laptop is not very good quality.
