Reminder to regularly double check your credit card benefits guides. Many cards have over the years silently reduced / eliminated their benefits. Fewer cards, especially those with no annual fee, come with extended warranty these days. Many removed that benefit in the last ~4 years. And when they did they didn't have to notify you.

I'm a little worried about refurbished from Onkyo. I've read a lot about their build quality suffering lately. Add in the bankruptcy and subsequent buy-out by Voxx/Sharp, and I just don't know if the discount is worth the risk… I do want this receiver, just feel like more of a safety net is needed, or a much lower price for refurb.

I've had a deal alert for a 9.2 receiver for some time. Very few hits. Is this about as good as the price is going to get for 9.2? I'd hate to buy refurbished just to have a Black Friday deal come along and blow this out of the water.

I have been stalking receiver deals for over a year and there have been almost none. Woot had some Pioneer Elites a while back that were 9.2, but very little has even been in stock, much less at a discount

Keep an eye on amazon warehouse. I got a Yamaha RX-A4A in "very good" condition for $730 earlier this year ($1,150 new).

i have spent a good bit of time with both the RZ-50 as well as the sister Pioneer product (VSX-LX-505). Dirac really does a much better job than Audyssey (Denon/Marantz)or YPAO (Yamaha). There were actually some small things I liked better about the Pioneer over the Onkyo, but they are small differences. There are nearly identical and Pioneer has some refurbs available at the same price as the RZ-50 ($1199)
