You'll get charged the full price + taxes when making the order with a trade-in online. When you go in-store to pick up the new phone and trade in your old phone, they'll refund you the difference and with that, your taxes will also be adjusted according to the final price.

Source: I traded in my Pixel 6 for a Pixel 7 a month ago at Best Buy.

Just select a different color/carrier. They are not going to check the model number that you are trading in just that it works and is reset.

Glad I found this thread trading in a XR to BB instead of Pixel 6 to Google. More money for XR doens't make sense but I'll bite. Sell the 6 on Swappa and come out way ahead.

Not getting the advertised trade in value for my 4a (actually a 4a 5g but no option) which says $315, I'm only getting $245 no matter which carrier I choose.

I traded my 6 and after the refund, they reversed taxes too so with the $100 gift card it was only a $28 dollar upgrade
