You'll get charged the full price + taxes when making the order with a trade-in online. When you go in-store to pick up the new phone and trade in your old phone, they'll refund you the difference and with that, your taxes will also be adjusted according to the final price.

Source: I traded in my Pixel 6 for a Pixel 7 a month ago at Best Buy.

No, I don't have an order ID. I used PayPal and have a payment email confirmation, but nothing from straight talk. I tried retrieving the order from their website via email lookup but the email they sent is blank. Still not sure if I should buy another phone or wait it out.

I plan to trade in an iphone xr to best buy. I've never traded in an iPhone. I've seen posts about it being logged out of icloud. What needs to be done to prepare the phone for trade in other than removing the Sim card and resetting the phone?

Note that BestBuy introduced restocking fee of $45 for phones since September 15, 2022.

I found out the hard way while returning a phone which didn't have software support I needed.
I paid the restocking fee, and closed my BestBuy account. I'll be shopping with Amazon/CostCo instead.

[During trade in they clearly tell you of 45 dollar restock fee and you have to sign the ackowledgement so there are no surprises now

No, your TIV cannot be higher than the Pixel cost. You can either opt for the 256GB version or choose "fair" condition for your i11 which would lower its TIV.
