The Echo always sound better the Echo Dot. I would say the Echo is for music and having Alexa talking while the Echo Dot is only for Alexa. You can have the Echo Dot play music but it sounds horrible

It has been $50 from Amazon several times including their prime days. The sound is a bit better than the previous gen. I actually have 2 paired in my kitchen and for $100 it's money well spent.

We replaced a 3rd gen echo dot and at this price, it's worth it. Currently, we have it grouped with two echo dots and it sounds pretty good. One downside: this thing just absolutely can't hear us when we use "Alexa" as a trigger word—particularly when it is playing music. It is much worse than our Echo Dots. Using "Hey Santa", which is an option on this device, performs much better (but it's responding as Santa 🎅🙂).

Thanks! I have 4 Echo Dot 4th gens in a speaker group on our first floor. We usually blast holiday music this time of year, and this will be the first year we've had Alexa devices to play music on. Thinking maybe a single strategic 4th Gen Echo centrally located might fill out the sound a bit on the first floor.

Thanks! Yeah I've found the Dots to be a bit "hard of hearing" now and again - making sure I am facing them when I use a voice command, and a little pause after I say "Alexa" (and see her light up) seems to help. Might have to pull the trigger at Target - wife's Target CC gets an additional discount as well.

Would a pair of these work better than an Echo Studio for my Fire TV? I know the Studio is more expensive and doesn't tend to drop much in price. Just wondering what would be the better out come.

The Echo Dot 3rd gen certainly doesn't sound "horrible" for music. Of course a decent bluetooth speaker sound a lot better, but it's adequate unless you're expecting to use it at an outside party. It certainly sounds better than my Google Nest Mini.

The Best Buy "Save $10 on 2 Echo smart speakers" offer doesn't work for me. When I add 2 Echoes to my cart, it still shows $100. But they do include a smart bulb and 4 months of free Amazon music, so still pretty good.

Another option is to buy from Amazon where you can get 6 months of Amazon Music included (for new subscribers).

I have no experience with either of these speakers, so take this with a grain of salt, but I would probably lean toward a pair of these since that would give you true stereo sound, and at current prices two regular Echos would cost much less than one Studio.

If you have a large room and/or need higher volume output, then maybe a single Studio would be better.

Thanks. I heard Studio has Atmos but wasn't sure if that was more gimmick than quality.
