These new mesh routers come with Homeshield instead of Homecare.

So following features that were free and available with Homecare are removed in Homeshield. If you want these features then you need to pay $90/yr.

Features that were removed are

- virus protection
- time limits on device
- content filtering
- multiple off times (User profiles)

The 3 pods can be connected wirelessly or wired. Wired is usually preferred because it provides a more stable connection between the devices. Because the pods have gigabit ports the fastest they can move data between each other when wired is approx 1Gbps (aka 1,000 Mbps). In this scenario, if you have two 6E devices, one connected to pod #1 and one connected to pod #2, the fastest they will be able to send data to each other is 1,000 Mbps even though 6E Wi-fi (theoretically) allows them to send data at 5,300 Mbps.

It's not really a big deal for me since I don't have many 6E devices anyway. Also, most people will probably use the 6E channel as their backhaul (instead of hardwire) so it's not really an issue. It's only an issue for anyone that has a lot of 6E devices and wants to take advantage of the speed it provides.

edit: I also want to add that since I work from home, stability, speed, and lack of maintenance (i.e. restarts) were my number one features/needs and this system has met all of my expectations

UPDATE 10/21: My example above is still correct however, I just looked at the deco interface and it looks like they've added the ability to use 6E for both the backhaul AND the Wi-Fi. In short, if you are buying this to utilize 6E you are probably better off NOT using a wired backhaul. Also, I think this makes this deal even more attractive. I attached a screenshot of the configuration in the deco app that supports using 6ghz band for both

This is a good mesh system in my opinion. I have a different model in my house, and put this one in my brother's house and neither one of is have issues. Great speed. No signal issues or reliability problems like I had with Netgear. Supports backhauling so most of mine are hardwired. The ones that aren't perform well.

Do we know if or when we may see another "puck" unit from Deco? These cylinders aren't terrible looking, but the pucks are a lot easier to deal with and hide, etc.

I just bought the Frontpage Deal refurb TP Link Deco AX3000 on sale for $115 pre-tax. Now I am wondering whether to keep it or go for this for ~$150 more and make my investment future-proof for the next 5 years.
I am coming from the TP-Link Google On-hub which still seems to be working fine, but will lose Google support in December.
Only my iPhone 11 is Wifi 6 compatible. Rest are all Wifi AC devices.

Should likely be introduced by 2024, but widespread use probably not until 2025.

6E adds 6Ghz which will free up bandwidth for your other devices. If you live near other people, it'll help relieve congestion as well. Wifi 7 is a ways away.

I have this. Overall it's a great value, but for some reason a Moto G Stylus (2021) phone refuses to have a stable connection (it's fine with other networks), and other devices occasionally get a finicky connection as well. I've also need to reboot a particular router a few times. The tp-link app is good if you're not a power user.

Yes. Homeshield has one profile only for parental control while Homecare had multiple.
