For those interested I have a bit of feedback on this monitor mount. For the price it's actually surprisingly well built. The pole and arm are very stable once you get them mounted and into position. The only negative I've found is with the tilt and swivel mechanism. The swivel has quite a bit of play so it may be a bit difficult to level your display. The tilt tensions with a bolt on the very end of the arm. You'll have to tighten it quite a bit to stabilize your monitor. After it's tight you may find it a bit difficult to adjust it later on. If you're looking for a mount you intend to adjust frequently then look for one with a gas strut. If you intend to set it once and leave it be then this mount is perfectly suited and you really can't beat the value.

I wouldn't say "higher quality" as much as different type. A pole mount without the chance of gas arm failure or look of the fat arm might be appealing to some. I have a dual monitor of center pole mounted one similar to the one I posted. You can still rotate the monitors, but you do loose some adjustments that many likely will never even use.

You could try a couple small pieces of wood on either side of the glass, depending on how strong it is it should probably work id think

The appeal of this one is arm extension without taking up space. The one linked can be extended, but the arm will take up all the space in front to get there as it'll be diagonal.

Different use cases indeed.

Make sure you have a strong desk to support this. The C-clamp area is very small, which is not great. I had and ikea desk that is hollow, and the clamp went right through the desk and make a hole on the desk and almost drop my monitor.
