OP has gotten the specs wrong in the title.
According to the spec sheet of this model: https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/L...82JW00Q7US, the screen has a 120Hz refresh rate and not 165Hz, It's also 250-nits and 45% NTSC.
For $599 I think it does
The issue is this one model has multiple configurations https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/...6_Spec.pdf
and even on Walmarts website it mixes them together. In some of the description it shows as "up to" 165hz yet elsewhere it shows this specific one as 120hz. It also shows as both a 5600h and "up to" a 5800h ryzen cpu in the description on walmarts site.

The given product according to Walmart is 82JW00Q7US, which is the 5600h/120hz configuration. So I would assume it is that but maybe some could get lucky and get a 5800h/165hz config. Unlikely but it's happened before with these walmart computers.

Atleast it's the 3050ti version 3050 would be far worse. But yes build quality and things like that make it still $599.
Thought about buying it for my wife. My legion (5800x 3070.16gb. 1tb). For obviously almost double the price has been phenomenal.
where/how long ago did you get your legion? that's what my price range is + ideal set up would be if it's a legion 5 pro.

8GB "gaming" laptop.
8GB is barely enough for web browsing.
That's just not true my son's hand me down gaming desktop has 8 and usage rarely goes over 4 or 5 and my mom's laptop with 4 is puttering along just great.

On my desktop, when I have 80 tabs open and I'm watching Netflix, prn, and playing a game on multiple screens at the same time, my usage barely goes over 8.

How does this compare to the GIGABYTE for $50 less.

On paper, both are good deals. Gigabyte's processor might be slightly faster, Lenovo's RTX using more watts might make up for that. Can't speak for Gigabyte's build quality. Lenovo seems to have 2 HDMI outputs if you plan to use multiple screens.

Desktop performance vs Laptop performance aren't the same. Bus speed and sharing resources are much more intense on the laptop in order to save battery and lower power usage.

However, 8GB RAM for Windows 11 is definitely a no-go.

The 15ACH6 is spec'd with different 15.6" screens depending on which sub model it is. If it's the 120 Hz screen it is only 250 nits. Not a great screen. Then again, it could be a really nice 60Hz screen with a wide color gamut. Or there's a chance that it could be just correctly described with the 165 Hz screen, but the 17" Walmart model was originally described that way (as having a high-refresh rate screen) as well, and had a 60 Hz screen. Which is still really nice for everything except high end gaming. Just depends on what you're going to use it for.

I've got the 17" version of this Lenovo legion 5 Walmart special laptop which was originally misdescribed as having the high refresh rate screen, and the build quality is incredible. But it does have a 60 Hz 17.3" screen with the wide color gamut, which is perfect for my purposes, since I will only use it for light gaming. The 17" version also came with an RTX 1650 whereas this one has the better 3050 TI.

Whether this 15.6" unit is a good deal though really depends on which screen you are actually getting on this particular Walmart special Lenovo legion 5... I suppose if it does not have the 165Hz screen and that was important to you, you could always return it. The good news is it should be super upgradeable. I wouldn't believe the 16 GB maximum on the memory. The 17" version said the same thing and I was able to snap in two 16GB DDR4 3200 modules without any problem for a total of 32 GB. Should also be easy to add an SSD if it doesn't come with enough space for you.

I actually got the bb 550 deal and it works great. Played some med level games at 8gb while waiting for my additional 8gb to arrive and it was fine. I don't notice the difference between 8gb and 16. You have to be careful about which drivers to use for gigabyte but just follow the recommendations and read any warnings that pop up

Are there x2 4 GB or a single 8GB and a free slot?

I tested both the Legion 5 and Legion 5 Pro on the 5800~ hardware. If they haven't changed the chassis the build quality wasn't bad at all for a plastic heavy laptop. The L5P is obviously insane and what I kept (both because build quality and because at the specs I was buying at the price difference was minimal for the screen and build improvements).

Yes I agree. I almost wish I woulda went with the legion pro at the time, but I got the deal alert because it was a site glitch and I didn't have much time to think about it and I was at work in the middle of the day. I thought the hell with it. I didn't need it but thought I'd try my luck maxing out all the add ons for the laptop thinking they would cancel the order anyway. There's no way their gonna ship base laptop specs for the almost $2k laptop I just spec'd out. Sure enough 3 months later I had it. Lol. Then I had to break it to my wife. Lol. Which wasn't bad, I make plenty of money but we just had baby, bought a new house, new car, and we were about to buy all new appliances, cabinets and flooring for the house. So really a gaming laptop wasn't on the top of the list at the moment. Lol.
