If you have access to any other current system, I'd avoid the Switch version unless you don't have a Steam Deck. 30fps and 540p handheld is pretty blur-tastic.

Me too. I purchased at launch 'cus I figured, "Surely this is one of the Nintendo releases that'll sit at full or near-full price for ages" ... guess I was wrong. 😅

Oh well, it's definitely worth full price regardless.
I highly recommend this game to anyone considering. It runs well on Switch from what I've played so far, if anyone was concerned about that.

I thought it ran really well on docked and handheld. Compared to Violet/Scarlet anyways

My deceased relatives run well compared to Violet/Scarlet, to be fair. And yes, Switch is 30fps, and holds the target, but running at 540p on a 720p screen (about half the native res) is pretty painfully blurry, not even mentioning the low-quality texture work on the Switch. I can't wait for a new Switch...

Almost no Nintendo release stays at full price for ages. The people that say that are just the people who want to engage in console wars which are a waste of time

The only ones I can think of are the ones that were short printed physically, but it's not like those haven't been discounted digitally ever.

(Or unless your definition of ages is <18 months)

Just want to add:

If you ordered at Target on day 1 like I did for the steelbook edition, I was able to get them to price match the $29.99 price of the standard edition. Best to do it as soon as possible as it should almost be a month since day 1. Chat is currently down at the time of posting this, so I called instead.

Not sure if BestBuy will do the same if you bought the steelbook edition there, but worth a try.

This is a series that I only play handheld. I just don't have couch time long enough. Most Meta Critic reviews disagree with you.

No reviews disagree with me. In fact, even scanning Metacritic there's plenty of reference to Steam Deck and how the Switch version is graphically inferior. As mentioned, if you don't need/care to play handheld, pick ANY version over the Switch (unless you adore OLED - which, to be fair, I do). The Steam Deck + P5 Royal is a match made in heaven. Looks lovely, and 60fps lock. Feel free to read Eurogamer for a deep dive here.
