You can buy it and just not launch it / log in to activate it. Play trial as much as you want and then when you're wanting to start subscription or move past Heavensword you can switch trial to this.

For the PC version you can wait and hold onto the code until you're ready to end the trial. For the Playstation version from what I've heard is it will apply automatically and your free 30 days will start the next time you log in.

I think I'm close to the Hevansword content.. yeah I'm gonna buy this if I can wait til I'm ready too apply the code

Are there still enough people playing this? Does it take forever to match with folks for boss and dungeons across early and late game contents?

On NA most content pops pretty quickly. They just launched a new data center, Dynamis, which is a little longer wait time but you can move to other data centesfor queus if you oicm this as your starting world.

Thinking I might just want to start a whole new character to play through Heavensward. I have a BLM that I got through the original game before the streamlined it and is just starting Heavensward. Or just buy this and eat the sub cost and try to get myself to play it more consistently than I have in the past.

And yes, this is the most popular MMO right now and it just keeps growing it's crazy.

This is 100% true. PSN versions AUTOMATICALLY apply it, so your free trial version is basically gone forever. If you wanted it back youd have to make a new PSN account so be warned. I personally hate the idea of having to pay a sub so Ive been on free trial so I can come and go with months and years going by without dropping a dime to re-enter. If there was a pay once or a permanent discount or a limited story edition version of the game I could play then I absolutely would do any of these. Like a year sub bundle every black Friday or something

There's the perfect amount imo. I still get pending queues to login to my server, but it's always sub 50 and takes no more than a minute. New patch next month with an alliance raid, new story quests, and dungeon add if I recall correctly too.

Queue is only an issue on Materia (Oceania) when its not prime time hours. People on the new NA Data Center Dynamis can just hop to another NA Data Center for free.

What if I buy it and dont download it, can I use the trial? I am totally new to 14 and mmo's in general. I want to play the free trial so I know if this is for me.

I purchased a PC code to check out the game soon. If I want to do the trial, but ultimately plan to play it through Steam. Any specific steps or just install via Steam and add the code in down the line?

Yep! You get the code where you need to enter on your Mogstation account, if you don't enter then you will be on free trial account.
