I have the CP-60S, which is the parlor version, and I love playing it! I'm 5'0" and I find it easier to play. I also own a Yamaha FS 830 and a Martin Jr. Dreadnought and out of all of them, I play more of the Fender. It is so comfortable to play,

For $120 this is an absolutely good bang for the buck!

Thanks. I've been looking for a decent solid top for my nephew to start learning. This is exactly what I was willing to spend.

I'm thinking of the same, that I'd wait for the FS800 to go on sale. But we might be waiting for a long time, as the last time it was on SD was 6 years ago. :-) Sounds like FS800 sells well enough that no retailer needs to offer discount.

I'm in for one. Maybe I'll learn how to play this decade.

I bought this seven months ago when it was a Slickdeals FP +34 deal for $30 more from the same seller. I have been very happy with the guitar at that price; so much so that I'm considering buying another one now

There will always be some debate over the merits of different types/makes of starter guitar, but mine arrived in great shape, well set up, and a pleasure to play. A great deal on a solid-top acoustic, especially for those of us who absolutely want something smaller than a dreadnaught.

Lots of good discussion the prior times it's come up on SD:

Would this be good for a 14 year old (who's 5'5") and just learning to play?

Yes. And the solid top is a bonus. Makes it more resonant.

All new guitars should be checked out by an experienced player (I'm sure any local worship pastor would look it over for you) to see if the one you got requires a "set-up" which entails lowering the string height, filing sharp frets etc to make it comfy and enjoyable to play. Any music store can do a set up.

I'd get him one (if he has the interest) and get him at least some introductory lessons by a teacher who will let him explore his interests and not just follow a book.

My 2¢

Cheers!

Not really better or worse. You bought a dreadnaught that's all mahogany. This is a concert body, so it's not quite as deep. It may be more comfortable. I believe this one has a cedar top.

I have both, and they both sound good for the money. I got a setup done on this one. I ought to get it done on the mahogany dread at some point. I like medium gauges on larger bodies. The strings Fender puts on their cheap acoustics are quite terrible.
