Good deal! I waited so long for the 2i2 to go on sale, but I gave up and bought it a few months ago for $169.

I'm new to audio but I've done a little homework so I'll try to provide an answer if I can.

If all you're doing is conference calls to be honest an audio interface with condenser ir dynamic mic might be Overkill In comparison to just grabbing a USB microphone.

These devices are more for vocal and instrument recording or podcasting since they're most useful for turning the analog sound which is your voice or guitar into digital and then throwing that voice/instrument into a Daw. Daw is a digital audio workstation like a logic pro or Ableton Live Studio One Etc which then you can tune the voice/instrument with an EQ and assortment of effects and create a nice mix to send and upload online.

I'd advise grabbing a simple USB microphone. Like a Yeti or a snowball or the AT2020usb unless you plan on upgrading your setup and doing more with it like starting a podcast then you can get this now and save yourself a lot of headache when you plan to upgrade

Hope that helped

edit: reread your post and see that you already picked up the dynamic mic. if you're dead set on keeping that Dynamic mic and/or cant return it then I would just go for the cheapest option which is the um 22 I believe. since you won't be needing too much of a high quality settings like 192 Hz recording or multiple inputs.

you can use the gain knob on the interface to adjust the volume of the microphone. but again if you can return it I just suggest getting a mid-tier USB microphone like the ones I suggested since it'll be a simple Plug and Play setup, you can also adjust gain on them to add volume. plug in wired headphones without an additional 3.5 jack (or use Bluetooth with your computer) and it'll be easier to travel with in case you have to do conference calls in a hotel or on the road

You're going to want to use a cloudlifter or a Soyuz launcher with your SM7b or other dynamic microphone. On my Scarlett 2i2 it sounds great with my SM7B and Soyuz launcher.

If she is only going to sing herself, the solo will work for her as well. The solo has a mic input and an instrument input. If ever in the future she decides to do a duet with someone in the same room, she'll want the 2i2.

I have a behringer and hate it! Its plagued with noise issues. Can i get the solo and leverage a mixer with it by plugging instruments and vocals into the mixer and sending the output to the scarlett solo via 1/4"?

also, are the accessories (headphone and mic) worth it for the bundle price?

i posted yesterday the Presonus audiobox iOne and iTwo for 70 and $100 respectively. Alto Music gives a 15% credit back and free shipping. So the 2i2 is going to cost $125 with shipping and the iTwo is $85 (after the $15 credit) and free shipping. Both of these interfaces are very comparable. The 2i2 comes with Ableton lite DAW and I think you get a full version of their Studio One Artist as well as Ableton Lite with the Presonus

Maybe I am missing something but Presonus appears to be a better deal. See my post yesterday that has been ignored here https://slickdeals.net/f/16204243-presonus-audiobox-ione-audio-interface-for-70?v=1&src=SiteSearch

But does not support two mics, one for voice and one for guitar, simultaneously. The second input only supports a guitar with pickups, using a guitar cable.

Sure, you can route a mixer in. You would just lose the ability to mix those tracks digitally in your DAW, unless you record one track at a time. The 2 input versions allow you to record to two digital tracks simultaneously. If you wanted to record 4 or more tracks, then you want to look elsewhere.

I think the biggest difference is probably preamps. The newer gens have more clean gain so you could get away with driving a lower output dynamic mic. Might want to check other info on latency, etc.
