That brilliant stars is worth it !
Both are more than worth it, but Brilliant Stars is the one I would prefer given the choice. I'll be stopping by tomorrow to check out this sale.

Ironically the brilliant stars top 2 cards are charizard... 120ish top value. Astral radiance has a less valuable top card (machamp) but more cards in the 50 range (bs has 2 or 3 above 39, ar has 5 or 6).

Both are solid sets imo.

My son is just getting into Pokémon cards and I know absolutely nothing about them! If I wanted to get one of these for him for Christmas, which set would you get and why? Thanks for your knowledge! Sincerely, a new pokemom!
Everyone suggesting battle academy which is great and all if he actually wants to play the game. If he's more about collecting that's gonna be a little disappointing compared to the fun of opening packs.

Both of these are good bets.

Don't quote me on this. However, but you may be on to something. I've bought 4 Brilliant Stars ETB's and I pulled not the greatest of cards. I also bought about 32 Sleeved Brilliant Stars booster packs. I got one card in the Booster Sleeve pack that was at least worth $20. Would I do it again? No. It's a game a chance. Good Luck on your Pokémon card journey to anyone starting.
The gist of this is that anything can happen on a per pack basis (or per bundle, or per box, etc). As a whole your odds are going to be higher of getting a higher raw number of better cards from booster boxes, then ETB's, then booster bundles, and single packs, but that's solely because of the number of cracks you have at it, not because of the contents within each.

tl;dr, it's a giant RNG, spend what you're comfortable spending if you're looking to effectively gamble on it, otherwise enjoy filling out a collection.

You can just say, "no guarantee cards" instead of insulting people

Only in store?
Looks like Target online moved all the ETBs(the 2 advertised in flyer and all other ETBs not advertised in flyer) to shipping only, deceptively stating "not sold in-store", therefore it won't show which store has product in stock in-store.

Get "Pokemon Battle Academy 2 Board Game" on Amazon, it's been heavily discounted for awhile at $13.99. Very fun for new pokekids.
