Beam 2 is good enough while arc is just longer that has more surround sound effect but both may need sub if one wants more bass and is willing to pay extra.

"Keep reading" isn't really accurate vs your own experience. I have full arc system (minus sub which I'm picking up asap) and both movies and music sound amazing.

This if you want white (arc and one) and option to have a mic. Costco typically carries Arc SL and One SL shadow edition (both do not have mics) and the shadow color which is a dark grey.

Fives as surrounds is overkill. I imagine that when he does listen to music, it would be quite nice but I don't own any fives.

I have all white Arc, sub gen 3, and 2 ones SL. contemplating on adding a second sub.
