Picked one up earlier. Need it for school, so I hope it lasts for a year at least. Will expand the memory after 14 day return policy. Any recommendations on ram?

I have bought two of these and can confirm that you can add 32gb for a total of 40gb of RAM. Moreover, you must add RAM if you want to use/activate Intel Iris xe graphics adapter. Otherwise, you are stuck using the MS UHD graphics adapter.

Staples offers 5 dollars off ,if you download their new staples connect app. Plus 4% cash back from popular app. I just purchased this, after comparing the latest 15in-17in laptops I considered this the best value. I added an additional 8gb of ram for 20 dollars. The screen is great and wide. I was surprised at how thin and light the laptop is. Asus includes 1 year of accidental damage warranty for free. Perfect for looking at stock charts and medical images.
How you added the additional RAM? or Is there a link?

without adding RAM the laptop memory runs in single channel. Adding a RAM module enables dual channel memory and this in turn enables Intel Iris graphics.

Very tempting, as long as it has a backlit keyboard and I can add a 2.5" SSD drive and more RAM.

Pretty easy. It took about 5 minutes.Once you open it you will notice an empty ram slot...just pop in a ram stick and done. This video is helped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZGcOqtzu00

Are you worried about running mismatched RAM sizes? In the past I know you are supposed to run matching sizes in order for dual channel to work effectively. I am not sure if that's changed. I think some newer motherboards can create a "virtual" dual channel and then leave the excess as a seperate channel. Not sure if this laptop does that. I'll probably just add 8gb for this reason.

Yes, I used it for work daily. It is fast if you add extra RAM, I suggest to add 16 GB ram (40$).
Were you able to add 16GB? Asus page (https://www.asus.com/us/laptops/f.../techspec/) seems to suggest 16GB (8GB onboard + 8GB SO-DIMM) is the max.

Thanks
