    This is just a controller. Maybe the games you were playing weren't fun? Or maybe your family just doesn't like driving sims? I use this thing for the forza series, american truck simulator, the dirt series, the assetto series, etc... I find it to be very fun.

    It's definitely a starter wheel and at the bottom of force feedback wheels currently. Great thing about it that it's a workhorse and very much indestructible.

    I had it for years until I tried some better wheels at which point I've moved on. That's not to say that you can't sim race with it, plenty people do but it's probably best suited to play arcade games like Forza, Gran Turismo, etc.

    It's also a great way to get into the hobby and slowly upgrade over time starting with pedals.

    can anyone provide recommendations/preferences for the PC version vs the PS version? I'm a very occasional casual gamer, and this would be my first driving wheel. I have a GTX1070 and a PS4 with no intent on upgrading either anytime soon. With that in mind, can anyone help me decide which one to go with? Are games typically cheaper for PC? Are there certain titles only available on either platform that should sway my decision? Thanks in advance

    This one is the Xbox version. You want to be looking at G29 for PlayStation. That's what I got. It's exactly the same hardware. Both versions are compatible with PC.

    About PC vs PlayStation, PC is better IMO. You'll find more titles, better and more compatible hardware in case you're upgrading to a much better rig and higher performance.

    Forza was designed for controllers, and they're going to work better if you care about the best performance / easiest driving.

    Personally, I care more about feeling like I'm driving a car than playing a game, and using a wheel with Forza in cockpit view makes me feel like I'm actually driving a car, while a controller with chase cam makes me feel like I'm playing a game.

    The G29 supports both PC and PS4, and comes with extra buttons so is the one to get regardless.

    As far as PC vs PS4, PC is much better. More games available, you can mod the games, better performance, better hardware support, etc.

    I think you're mistaking this for the Thrustmaster T150 - which is indeed plastic and rubber.

    The Logitech G920/G29 has a leather-wrapped metal wheel, metal paddle shifters, and the pedals are metal. There's no rubber anywhere.

    If you want to get away from plastic, you're going to have to spend a whole lot more, like $700+

    I got mine for $170 + tax. Logitech's website has the same price and has an email popup for VIP deals for Black Friday. I entered my email and had a coupon sent to my email shortly after signing up for $30 off of $150+. Coupon says "must be at least 2 items" but works for this wheel. Someone else in the comments said they got this coupon as well which gave me the idea to try.
